Baby I have to get going but Ill be home at three to pick you up for the appointment okay?

Bette didnt hear a response so she walked back into the bedroom.

Bette found Tina still lying down on the bed and Bette walked over and sat down next to her. It was the twelfth week of their pregnancy and they had an appointment with Dr. Wilson today for a regular checkup. Tina was too nervous to go to work so she took the day off and Bette was going to take a half-day so that she could drive Tina to and from the appointment. Tina had been dreading this day because this was the exact point last time when she found out they had lost the baby. She had been a nervous wreck all week and Bette finally figured out why Tina was being so distant. After her birthday Bette had done her best to be supportive of Tina and loving but she always felt like she was coming up a little short. Then one night, about a week and a half ago, Tina finally broke down and told Bette exactly why she had been so worried. Bette just held her tight as Tina cried and told Bette she was afraid of losing the baby again and Bette had told her not to worry. This time things were going to be fine and the baby was healthy and strong. Tina never told Bette, but that night her tears were not only out of fear but also out of happiness when Bette held her all night and told her that she loved her and she loved the baby. Bette had said that everything was going to be okay but if something were to happen that maybe they werent meant to bear children but that was okay too. They could always adopt and no matter what as long as she was raising the baby with Tina, that this was their family and that made her so proud.

These past six weeks had been extremely tough on Bette because she knew that Tina was going through so much mentally and she just didnt know how to ease her pain. Bette did everything she could think of to take Tinas mind off of whatever was bothering her and until Tina actually told her what was wrong Bette was going crazy. She always put on a happy face for Tina however because she didnt want her to worry, but when Tina was sleeping or Bette was alone in the house she found herself in a very emotional state. Numerous times she had found herself crying, and for Bette Porter, that is very unusual. Bette kept it together for Tinas sake however and when Tina finally told Bette that she was scared of losing the baby again, Bette felt her heart drop. She had the same worries as Tina, but she didnt want Tina to be concerned with that. Bette remembered pulling Tina into her arms that night and telling her that it wasnt going to happen and that they were going to have their family. Bette loved Tina more than anything and she just couldnt stand to see her in so worried.

Bette gently rubbed Tinas back and told her that she had to go but that she would be back at three to pick her up. Tina rolled over with tears in her eyes and just looked at Bette with a small smile on her face. Bette wanted to just call in sick all day, but Franklin might have a heart attack if she did that and she knew she would need those sick days later on down the road. Bette gave Tina a small kiss on the forehead before running out of the house and off to work. On the way there she thought about all they had been through and what Tina must be feeling right now. Tina is going to be fine, weve made it through this once we can do it again. The baby is fine and we are going to have our family. Dr. Wilson said that Tinas hormones would be raging out of control, maybe this is just one of those times. God T, youve been so strong, I love you so much. Bette got to work and spent the better part of the morning just trying to take her mind off of Tina and what may or may not happen today at the doctors.

At three oclock exactly Bette ran into the house and quickly looked around for Tina. She was worried that Tina might still be lying in bed, but she was surprised to find Tina in the kitchen making a sandwich. Bette walked up behind her and wrapped her arms around her waist and kissed her lightly on the cheek. Bette saw what Tina was making for lunch and she wrinkled her nose at the peanut butter and pickle sandwich Tina was devouring.

My goodness T, I have to say that is one disgusting sandwich.

No its actually goodwant some?

No thanks, maybe later, like if there is nothing left in the house.

Tina turned around and smiled at Bette. Bette was so happy to see Tina doing better and she leaned in to give Tina a kiss on the lips. She licked her lips as she pulled back and tasted the concoction that Tina was eating and made a face. Tina laughed at Bette and leaned in teasingly for another kiss. Bette managed to avert her lips to placing a small kiss on her cheek and after glancing at the clock she said they should go. Tina finished her sandwich and ten minutes later they were out the door. Fifteen minutes later they were pulling up at Dr. Wilsons office right on time. They walked hand in hand into the building and after checking in with the receptionist they sat down still holding hands. Bette glanced over at Tina and saw how nervous she was and gave Tinas hand a small squeeze. They were called in shortly and Bette kissed Tina on the cheek softly before following her into the office. Tina changed into the paper gown and lay down on the table while Bette stood by her side, still holding her hand. Tina gave Bette a nervous smile and Bette responded with a confident one. Dr. Wilson came in at that moment and Bette could see Tinas whole body tense up. She looked at Tina and gave her a smile and a wink as Dr. Wilson inserted the ultrasound machine into Tina. After a few minutes Dr. Wilson looked at them with a smile on her face.

Well, everything seems to be in order.

You mean everythings okay with the baby?

Yes Tina, everything is fine. The baby is developing nicely and appears to be healthy and thriving. Would you like to know the ***** of your baby?

Tina looked at Bette with a smile on her face and Bette felt her eyes water up. Tina looked so happy and Bette would have done anything to freeze time and keep this moment forever. She nodded at Tina and Tina looked at Dr. Wilson and smiled broadly nodding her head yes.

Wellit looks likeyou two are going to have a baby girl.

Really? I mean were having a daughter.

Unless Im really missing something, yes you are.

Dr. Wilson smiled at her own joke while Tina started tearing up and Bette knew they were tears of happiness. Bette just smiled at Tina and at Dr. Wilson and she breathed a sigh of relief and said a silent prayer of thanks for everything being okay. As much as she had promised Tina they would be able to get through everything, Bette really didnt know if Tina could handle losing another baby and more importantly she didnt know what it would have done to their relationship.

Dr. Wilson talked to them for a little while longer about what to expect in the next three months and after some reminders about eating healthy and getting exercise, Tina and Bette left the office still walking hand in hand. Tina was so happy she was practically bouncing off the walls and Bette couldnt stop laughing at the little things Tina was doing. Tina had a small smile permanently plastered to her face and she was humming something softly that Bette couldnt recognize. Tina kept looking at Bette on the ride back to the house and alternating between kissing her cheek and stroking it softly with her hand. Bette had never seen Tina so excited about anything and she was glad that Tina was over her initial fears. Bette told Tina to go relax while she tried to figure out what to do for dinner, but Tina insisted on cooking for them. After a delicious dinner, Tina went to take a shower and Bette changed for bed. Bette was exhausted and after such an emotionally draining day she was ready for bed. Bette was lying in bed reading a book when Tina walked back into the room in her robe and towel drying her hair. Bette glanced over at her and gave her a warm smile and Tina returned the smile as she threw her towel into the hamper. Tina walked over and climbed into bed then crawled over to Bette settling down on her lap. Bette looked at Tina over the book she was reading and Tina had a mischievous look in her eye. Bette put the book down and reached for Tinas hand as Tina just looked at her contentedly. Tina leaned in for what Bette thought was going to be a soft kiss, but soon turned more urgent when Tina gently parted Bettes lips with her tongue. After teasing Bettes tongue for a little while Tina pulled back and smiled when she saw surprise mixed with love and arousal in Bettes eyes.

Tina leaned in again and gave Bette a similar kiss as last time and she also let her hands wander lightly over Bettes body. Bette moaned a little when Tinas hands traced little circles over her chest and she pulled away and looked at Tina curiously. They had only made love twice since Bettes birthday and she just figured it was because Tina had been so nervous about losing the baby that she wasnt feeling up to it. Tonight however, Bette saw the desire in Tinas eyes and it nearly took her breath away.

How are you feeling baby?

Fine. Bette I love you

And I just wanted to say thank you for being so patient with me and so wonderful about everything.

Eh it was nothing.

Tina laughed at Bettes attempt at humility and tickled her lightly causing Bette to squirm and wiggle around under her touch. Tina knew exactly how to get to Bette and she was going to have fun with her tonight. Tina stopped long enough for Bette to catch her breath and when she did she looked Tina straight in the eye. Tina held her gaze for a few seconds before leaning down and letting her lips brush Bettes ever so lightly. When she spoke her voice was thick with arousal and just hearing it made Bette wet.

Well there is one more thing you can do for me.

Tina licked Bettes lips with her tongue and Bette felt a shiver run down her back. She hadnt seen Tina this frisky in a while and it made her laugh a little as she remembered so many nights when they would have conversations just like this that all ended in one thing.

Tina lifted herself slightly so that she was looking Bette in the eye again and bent down to bite on Bettes bottom lip before speaking.

Bette didnt have a verbal response for her so she smiled and lifted her head to meet Tinas waiting mouth. They kissed passionately for a little while as Bette let her hands quickly undo the robe Tina was wearing. She ran her hands over Tinas body making sure to gently squeeze and pinch Tinas already erect nipples. Tina moaned when Bette did this and she started kissing lower on Bettes chin and neck. Tina pulled on the bottom of Bettes tank top and Bette sat up so that Tina could remove it. Bette took this opportunity to kiss her way down Tinas neck and when she took one of Tinas nipples into her mouth Tina arched her back out of pleasure. Tina moved suddenly and before Bette knew it Tina had taken her pants and underwear off in one motion. Bette laughed at the look in Tinas eye and when she jumped back into bed after shedding her robe Bette felt the rush of desire and love she used to feel for Tina back when they first started dating. They took their time gently making love to each other all night and when Bette felt Tina contract around her fingers for the last time she whispered softly into Tinas ear.

Bette smiled at this and pulled Tina into her arms. Tonight had been exactly what they needed and after the good news from Dr. Wilson Bette finally felt secure in knowing that they were going to have their family. It was their night to reconnect after so much pain and heartache that the last two years had brought them and Bette knew that Tina felt the same thing. Bette was happy that Tina was happy and for once that was enough for her. They fell asleep holding each other and in the morning Bette awoke to Tina softly kissing her. Tina placed small kisses on Bettes nose and cheek and lips as Bette opened her eyes and smiled at her darling wife.

Bette laughed at Tinas greeting and the realization of the moment finally set it. I am going to be a mommy, were going to be parents, were going to have our family. Bette smiled as she placed a gentle kiss on Tinas forehead and then moved to place a soft kiss on Tinas stomach. Bette knew they were going to have many more bumps down the road, but the first major disaster had been avoided. They made it through the first trimester and all they could do was look ahead and wait for their family to become complete. Bette looked at Tina again and felt the tears building but this time they were out of love. Everyone always said that she had the perfect life and she never really believed them until right now. She had the perfect job where she was respected and praised, she had the woman by her side who she loved and who loved her in return, and now she was going to have her daughter to love and raise making her whole life complete. Yes, now Bette finally believed she had everything she always wanted.
