Bette groaned a little before rolling over and burying her head under the covers. She laid perfectly still as she waited for Liz to come bounding through the door to wake her up and sure enough after a few seconds Bette heard the door slam open and she felt Liz do a flying leap onto the bed. Bette pretended to be sleeping causing Liz to giggle softly and gently poke at her exposed ear, something Tina taught Liz to do whenever she wanted to wake Bette up since that was a sensitive spot for Bette. Bette held her laughter in as long as possible before she grinned and rolled over attacking Liz with her fingers making Liz squeal and laugh uncontrollably. Tina walked in after hearing the commotion and she smiled when she saw Bette and Liz playing around like they were both toddlers instead of a two year old and her mother. Tina let them play for a little bit longer before going over and joining in the fun. She scooped Liz up out of Bettes grasp and held her menacingly over Bette as Liz continued to laugh and wiggle around in hopes that Tina didnt let her fall into Bettes reach. Bette laughed at this and finally she sat up mumbling something about being awake. Tina put Liz down who immediately ran out of the room and Tina watched her go with a smile on her face. Bette reached out and pulled Tina into her arms and gently kissed her good morning. Tina smiled into the kiss and let her lips linger on Bettes for a few seconds before pulling back and looking into her eyes.

Morning babe. How was your trip?

Exhaustingand lonelyI really missed you guys.

We missed you too babe. Especially Lizshe didnt know what to do with herself.

Bette smiled sadly as she thought of Liz being so heartbroken at her absence. Tina saw the sadness in Bettes eyes so she gently stroked Bettes face and turned her so that they were eye to eye.

Its okay Betteits just one of those things shell have to learn.

I knowbut I still feel badhey T, there was something I wanted to talk to you about.

Bette was interrupted by the sound of a crashing chair and a wail that could have shattered glass. Both Tina and Bette jumped up and ran to the kitchen to find Liz sprawled out on the floor and her chair tipped over next to her. It looked like she had unsuccessfully tried to climb into her seat by herself and had learned about the law of gravity the hard way. Tina ran to her and picked her up while Bette picked up the chair and went over to rub Lizs back soothingly. Liz continued to cry while both women did their best to inspect her to make sure she wasnt seriously hurt which was quite difficult since she was crying so hard. After not finding any major bumps or cuts Tina did her best to comfort Liz while Bette stood back and watched Tina work her magic. After talking to her softly and kissing her lightly on the head a few times it seemed that Tina had done the trick and Liz was feeling better. Bette laughed when Tina put Liz down and Liz rubbed her head a little, looked at both moms, started giggling uncontrollably then ran off into her room. Bette just shook her head at Liz as she scampered off down the hall and she couldnt understand how kids could be so resilient. Tina laughed at Bettes reaction and she playfully swatted at her.

Good thing she has a hard head like you.

Bette grinned knowing that Tina was telling the truth, just in a different sense of the word. Tina crawled over and curled up in Bettes lap looking up at her with a small smile on her face.

So what were you going to tell me babe?

UmwellI guessI guess I was doing some thinking on the way back from San Francisco and I had a thought. What do you think about a sibling for Liz?

Another kid? I guess I never really thought about it. Do you want more children?

Bette looked down at Tina with a hopeful smile on her face. When Tina saw the look in Bettes eyes she already knew what Bettes answer would be, but the truth of the matter is, she didnt know if she could go through another pregnancy. The first one had been so draining and she was just starting to get her old life back on track and Tina wasnt totally sure she was willing to make that sacrifice again. Tina gave Bette a small smile and kissed her lightly on the lips stopping to gently rub her nose against Bettes.

Tina heard the disappointment in Bettes voice, but she let it go because she knew this would be a tough decision. All her life Tina had wanted a big family, but after seeing how much it takes just to make theirs work, well Tina was just exhausted. But Tina grew up with a sister whom she was close to and she knew all about the bonds that siblings share and how precious they can be and it was something she wanted Liz to experience. Tina wanted nothing more than to give Liz a sister or a brother and give Bette and herself the big family theyve always wanted, but it came with a price. Tina would have to stop working again and she would have to endure the nine months of pregnancy AGAIN which although it was fun at time, was something Tina wasnt too thrilled to endure a second time around. But then Tina thought about what it was like growing up and having that person to share everything with even though they could get on your last nerve at times. She remembered the secrets her and her sister shared and how they would always get into some sort of mischief or another always managing to drive their parents insane. It was something that was such a special gift and Tina would do anything for it, but she knew she would really need to think about it before she made a decision.

Bette looked down at Tina once more before gently sitting her up and getting up to get herself some coffee. As Bette poured herself a cup she couldnt help but feel the sadness wash over her in response to Tinas uncertainty about having more children. Bette had been so hopeful that Tina would say yes and that she would get to have her big family, but when Tina was so hesitant to her bringing up the subject, Bette couldnt help but feel a little rejected. However, Bette knew that she couldnt force this on Tina, after all Tina would be the one carrying the child again, and Bette knew that if Tina really didnt want to do it, there was no way around it. She tried her best not to let her disappointment show but Bette knew she looked like a hurt puppy right now. She gave Tina one last small smile before taking her coffee and heading back to bed. She just wanted to crawl into bed and maybe dream about her big family since it seemed that would be the closest she would come in this lifetime to getting her wish.

The rest of the day passed uneventfully and everyone went to bed early since they were all exhausted from the long weekend. Tina noticed that Bette was being a little more quiet than normal, but for the most part she was handling things well. Tina also noticed that Bette way paying extra attention to Liz, if thats possible, and Tina had a feeling that Bette still felt guilty for leaving them overnight. Monday and Tuesday came and went without much more discussion on the topic and Bette figured that Tina had made up her mind and the answer was no so she didnt try and bring it up again. Tina spent Monday and Tuesday thinking a lot about having another child and if it was what they really wanted and by Wednesday she had made up her mind on the matter. Tina smiled to herself a little as she hurried home from work and she dropped Liz off at her moms just to make sure that they werent interrupted tonight. Tina then went to the market and picked up some stuff to cook and walked through the door a half past six. At eight thirty Tina had showered and cooked and set the table for Bette when she got home and Tina opened a bottle of wine and relaxed on the couch waiting for Bette to arrive.

At ten oclock Bette walked in the door looking completely exhausted but her face softened when she saw the romantic atmosphere Tina had set in the house. Lately shed been having what felt like the day from ***** over and over again at work and it touched her that Tina would go through so much trouble to help her relax after a long day at work. She walked to the couch and found Tina fast asleep and Bette couldnt help but smile a little at Tinas inability to even stay awake when things were quiet which was a rarity in this house. Bette quietly walked back to the bedroom to change and when she emerged she poked her head into Lizs room expecting to find Liz fast asleep, but when she didnt see her, Bette felt the panic run though her.

TINA!

What? What?

Tina sat up startled at Bettes yelling and she jumped up and ran over to Bette who was standing in the doorway to Lizs room.

Where is Liz?

Tina laughed sheepishly and looked up at Bette who had a tense look on her face. Tina wrapped her arms around Bettes neck and smiled sweetly at her.

Dont worry babeshes at moms house.

Tina swallowed her immediate irritation at Bettes reaction to her attempt at romance and she simply took Bette by the hand and led her back to the couch. Tina sat Bette down and straddled her carefully all the while not losing eye contact with Bette. Tina let her arms rest gingerly on either side of Bettes head and she smiled down at her before kissing her lightly.

Bettewhat made you think about having a big family? What happened last weekend?

Bette looked at Tina for a few moments then looked away and sighed softly. She wanted so badly to tell Tina about the family she saw on the plane and how envious it made her, but she didnt want to put that kind of pressure on Tina either. It was one of those things that made Bette feel like she was five years old trying to decide what to tell Santa she wanted for Christmas. Bette sighed again and looked back at Tina with caution in her eyes.

I dont know. I saw this familyand they just looked so happy and I found myself wishing I had that kind of happiness. I know its selfish T, and I dont want to pressure you into doing itbut would you at least consider it?

Tina looked at Bette with love and adoration in her eyes. Bette was completely vulnerable right now and Tina could see the trepidation in Bettes eyes about even asking Tina to do this. Tina knew that Bette loved her and Liz more than anything and she couldnt believe how happy Bette had made her these past few years. Their relationship was at a peak it had never reached before and she knew it was due in large part to Liz being in their life, and Tina thought if one kid made Bette that happy, just imagine what two or three could do. Tina leaned in and kissed Bette softly at first letting her tongue lightly graze over Bettes lips seeking an invitation to go deeper into Bettes mouth and was given access by a soft moan from Bette followed by a smile which allowed Tinas tongue to enter where it wanted to go. Tina kissed Bette deeply and she immediately felt Bettes hands trail lightly up and down her body then back up under her shirt. Tina smiled when she felt Bette undo her bra and gently run her hands over Tinas ***** just once before pulling them out and wrapping them around Tina in a tight hug. Tina laughed softly and looked down into Bettes eyes.

Bette smiled up at Tina and felt tears of happiness forming in her eyes. She kissed Tina gently and smiled into the kiss when she felt Tina begin to rock against her. They would spend the rest of the night sweetly and slowly making love to each other as both women realized how far theyve come and how much a reality they had made their dreams. There were a few times when they would stop in the middle just to stare into each others eyes and both Tina and Bette would never forget the look of unconditional love they saw reflected in their lovers eyes. As they finally fell asleep hours later Tina snuggled down into Bettes arms and sighed happily as a look of sheer joy washed over her face. She heard Bettes breathing even out and when she was certain Bette was asleep she turned slightly and whispered, I love you, before kissing Bette softly and falling fast asleep. In the morning Tina woke up to find herself alone and Bette gone for work already but she smiled when she saw what was on Bettes pillow. Tina picked up the rose and smelled it as she read Bettes simple note and knew that she had made the right decision last night. The note wasnt anything out of the ordinary or anything particularly special, but its meaning would resonate in everything both her and Bette did for the rest of their lives. It was a simple declaration of emotion and an even simpler communication that came from the heart.
