Tina woke up to the smell of coffee, bacon and eggs. She still couldnt believe that Bette had learned to cook but it was times like these that she couldnt be happier that she did. She hadnt eaten very much in the last 48 hours and she was absolutely famished. She rolled out of bed and went downstairs to find Bette putting the finishing touches on a tray of food.

Tina: Morning my love.

Bette: Hey, I was going to surprise you with breakfast in bed!

Tina: Sorry. Do you want me to run upstairs and pretend to be sleeping? I would do that for you baby.

Bette: Nah, its okay. Sit, I figured we could both use a good solid meal after the last couple of days. Im really sorry Tina.

Tina: Look, its water under the bridge. Lets not talk about it anymore. What do you want to do today?

Bette: Well we have to head back eventually, but Id like to just hang out here for a while and just relax.

Tina: Sounds like a plan. Hand me the paper will you baby?

Tina turned to the Arts and Leisure section of the Sunday paper and she let out a small yelp.

Bette: What? Whats wrong?

Tina: Oh my God Bette, youre on the front page. There is an article about your show.

Bette: Let me see.

Tina shifted the paper so they could both see and the two sat together reading the article.

Tina: They loved your show! They say youre the hot new artist of 2004. Im so proud of you.

Tina leaned over and gave Bette a kiss on her lips and they stayed that way giving each other small little kisses intermixed with I love you.

The phone rang, interrupting their little love fest. Bette pulled away and got up to answer it.
Bette: Oh, hi Alice. Yes, we just read the paper. Dont be a smart *****; of course Ill still talk to you. Very funny Alice, cut it out will you? Well be back tonight, early evening. Let me ask Tina, hold on.

Bette: Alice and the gang want to go celebrate my success tomorrow night. Can you get out of work at a reasonable hour?

Tina: Yes, no problem.

Bette: Okay Alice, were on for tomorrow. Thanks for calling. I love you too.
The phone rang again, before Bette could sit back down.

Bette: Hi Kit. Yes, we just saw it. Im very happy but I really did not want all this attention. I know, itll pay the bills and then some. I guess I can put up with it for a little while. It will die down as soon as they discover the next hot new artist of the year. Yes, we will be there tomorrow night. Ill see you then. Thanks Kit for yesterday, I really appreciated being able to talk things through with you. Love you too.

The phone rang off the hook for the next few hours. Bette was exhausted and frustrated. She had wanted to spend a quiet day with Tina and things were not going to work out. She hung up from the last call and unplugged the phone from the wall.

Tina: What are you doing?
Bette: Ive had it. All I wanted to do was spend a quiet day with the woman I love and instead Ive been on the phone.

Tina: Hey, its part of being the hot new artist of the year. Dont worry about it Bette. At least we were able to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air. Come over here baby. Let me hold you for a little while before we get going.

Bette sat down on Tinas lounge, between Tinas legs and leaned back, relaxing immediately. Tina leaned down and put her chin on top of Bettes head and wrapped her arms around Bettes protruding belly.

Bette: Now this is more like it. I love you Tina Kennard.

Tina: I love you Bette Porter. How are you feeling baby? There isnt much time left before the baby is born.

Bette: Ive been thinking about that. I feel so totally unprepared. I know nothing about caring for a baby. What was I thinking?

Tina could feel Bette starting to tense up.

Tina: Hey, relax. Ill be there with you. The two of us will learn together. Ive been talking to a few of the women I work with and they recommend that we get a baby nurse for the first week. The nurse can teach us what we need to know and get the baby into a routine. Plus it will give you a chance to heal a bit and get some of your strength back. If you want I can ask them for the names of the nurses they used.

Bette: See, this is why I need you in my life. You come up with these great ideas and keep my calm.

Bette shifted in her seatt so she could look directly into Tinas eyes.

Ive been thinking about something else T. I want you to adopt the baby. I want you to have the same legal rights that I do. This way if anything happens to me

Tina: Shhh. Nothing is going to happen to you, I wont let it.

Tinas eyes were filled with tears.

Tina: You really want me to adopt the baby?

Bette: Yes, more than anything in the world. I want us to be a family T.
Tina: I would be honored.

Bette reached over and wiped the tears from Tinas face.

Bette: Tears of joy right?

Tina: Bette Porter, you have touched my heart so deeply. I have never felt more complete than I do right now. I love you so very much.

Bette took Tinas face in her hands and softly kissed her. The kiss deepened, full of passion and love.

Just then Bettes cell phone rang.

Bette: Arghhh.I forgot to turn that damn thing off too.

Tina burst out laughing.

Tina: Dont answer it baby..let the voicemail pick up.

Bette: Once again, another great idea.

They settled back into their positions and ended up making out like 2 teenagers in love before hitting the road to get back home.
