I shut off the computer and watch the screen fade and shrink into a tiny dot which disappears as I count ” 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 – 5.” “Exactly the same,” I muse. “Every single time, no variation, no deviation, blank, dot, 5 seconds, off.”
“Amazing”
I am pathetic — so easily amused and confused.
I lean back in my chair, close my eyes, raise my arms and clasp my fingers behind my head, wickedly smiling, breathing a contented sigh of relief. You know that kind of relief I am talking about — that feeling you get when you pee after 10 hours of riding in a car and your eyes water as you sit and sit and sit and smile. That feeling you get as the caffeine courses through your blood shattering that one obsessive thought wich clogs your brain — aahhh — you swallow, you smile. That oh-so grateful feeling you experience when a FAN FIC writer FINALLLY< FINALLY< FINALLY posts the next installment !!
And you smile — wickedly satisfied.
“Amazing.”
“Thank you guys,” I whimper like the addict I am. “I thank the readers who playfully chastised those authors for waiting so long to reveal the next chapter. I thank the writers wsho fought the brain cramps and through the blocks to give us — to give ME — another fix. I thank the novices who are giving it a shot. Thank you, thank you all so much.”
I raise my arms and stretch and smile again. I am sssooo addicted to a good story, such a sucker for romance and conflict and drama and self-destruction, self-discovery, character development, and . . .
“Hey,” she yells from the kitchen. “What are you doing in there?” I sit up so quickly that I nearly fall out of the chair — startled — guiltily looking over my shoulder as if I were caught with my hand down my pants; which by the way isn’t too far from the truth after reading that last post filled with Bette and Tina ***** all over everywhere. Good god that chapter was HOT — “make-mne-wet” kinda hot. Gawd, I love that sh*t.
“I’m just checking my e-mail,” I lie.
Her name is Karen, but I call her “K” like Bette calls Tina “B”. She doesn’t know why I do it, but she doesn’t seem to mind. I’m not sure I want to share this with her; I’m not sure she would understand. I am SUCH an addict !!! I wonder if she suspects.

Yes, I totally agree.. The first step is amitting you have an addiction – I am a L word Fan Fic Addict! A big THANK YOU to all the Fan Fic writers who keep us smiling daily.
You’re right on the money! I’ve been an addict since I discovered the L word. I thought it was stupid in the beginning to read it but since I started to read one story, I got hooked… LOL. I ‘m not that comfortable sharing the fact that I check out this site almost or even more often than I check my mail (LOL). So I just call it my morning, noon and night routine when someone comes peering over my screen and acidentally read what site I was on. I DO THANK YOU ALL WRITERS HERE TO SHARE YOUR TALENTS AND CREATIVITY WITH ALL OF US. I’ve seen a few of the writers become more polished and refined as the chapters progress and there are ones that never have any problem to come up with creative stories. To be honest, I am not that creative… and I enjoy being entertained by all your writings.
Yeah it’s good to know I’m not the only one that can’t stop reading theses stories. One of theses days I’m gona get Fired(LOL) I have to check constantly to see if a story has been updated I have spent an entire Sunday re reading stories. But I love every minute of it. All you talented writers out there please don’t stop. You make my days brighter everyday….

The L Word Annonymous. I’m such an addict it’s like a drug hell even the show is, I watch every showing of every episode. (I don’t now whether it’s to watch the entire show or just to get to watch J Beals, GOD SHE IS HOT.) And the fan fiction takes my mind into a world of utter delight and enjoyment. No one knows I write but my friends know I’m an avid fan fic reader. So to all the writers a special thanks for fulling my mind with laughter, love, longing, liasons, lust, and lots more.
Such an addict, that you miss up whose who……..like Tina is “T” not “B” which would make her Bette………but, hey I don’t fucking care……..I am a damn addict, too! 5-Stars. :D
My name is lovedonce and I too am an addict! LOL!…I just can’t help myself!…I have already prepared my speech for when my supervisor calls me in her office!…I mean is there really any excuse for reading like 10 stories a day at work?…oh and did I mention that I was straight?…well at least I used to be, wink, wink!…good to know I’m not alone though!
