    The girls bar…

    Bette came back to the table with their drinks, a glass of white wine for Tina, Baileys on the rocks for herself. They both took a moment to look around at their surroundings, taking in the bar, the music, and of course the women. Looking back at each other, they smiled. Bette took a sip of her drink, voicing her thoughts. “You realize we are the oldest women in here, don’t you?”

    Tina laughed. “Well, we may be the oldest, but we can still make an impression, or at least you can. Look at all these young women staring at you. I think, that if I wasn’t here, you would have a multitude of volunteers to help keep you…” She cleared her throat. “entertained for the night!”

    Bette held up her hands and had a look of mock horror on her face. “Tina! Now why would you try to scare me like that? You know I am way out of my league when it comes to the young women of today. They are way to bold and brassy for me. Good God Tina, I can’t even go there in my head when it comes to you…let alone a 25 year old!” Bette had meant it as a joke, but as soon as the words came out of her mouth, she knew it had come out wrong, and by the look on Tina’s face, she knew that Tina had not taken it as it was meant. “Tina, I’m sorry…I didn’t mean…”

    Tina was crushed. She didn’t understand. They had being reconnecting so naturally these last several days. Their friendship easing into itself, like it was just yesterday that they were together and happy, not 16 or 17 years. She knew Bette was holding back physically, but she thought it was just a case of nerves. Now she wondered if maybe it was more than that. ‘God, maybe she doesn’t want to make love with me, at all. Maybe after spending this time with me again she realizes she doesn’t want this…us.’

    Bette could see the pain, the confusion playing across Tina’s face. ‘*****. Now what?’ It had been so long since Bette had been in this position, so long since she had to explain her innermost thoughts to anyone. She reached out and took Tina’s hand in her own. “Tina…Baby, it’s not what you think. I do want to be with you…,” she looked down, all of a sudden feeling shy and scared, “intimately…physically…its just that…” Bette blew out a deep breath. “I want to talk with you about this, but not here. Not in a loud women’s bar, with people watching us. Please T…please let it go for now. We can talk about it later. Just know that I love you, and want to be with you in every way possible. Ok?”

    Tina looked down at the table, trying to control her emotions. The last thing she wanted to do was to cry. She looked out at the crowd and then back at Bette, knowing she had to trust what Bette had just shared with her. She squeezed Bette’s hand. “Ok, Ms. Porter, we will table this discussion until later…but just know that now that it is out, and floating around out there, we will most definitely be talking about it later.” She smiled at the woman she loved, letting her know that everything was as it should be, for now.

    Wanting to lighten the mood, Tina chuckled. “Do you realize this is the first ***** bar I have been to in over 15 years?” She looked around again. “Nice to know some things never change.”

    Bette looked at Tina with surprise. “Geez Tina. Didn’t you and Dan have any ***** friends, or just want to be daring one night and go dancing at the ***** bar? You know how hip that makes straight people feel, being able to tell their friends they were out dancing with the ***** boys.” Bette gave Tina a little smirk.

    “Very funny Bette!” Tina was silent for a moment. “You know, we didn’t have any ***** friends…I mean there is a really nice ***** couple that live down the street, but we didn’t socialize with them. Don’t ask me why either, cause I couldn’t tell you. I guess with three small children I just didn’t have the time to think about any of that. Dan and I had several close couple friends, who also had children that we would do things with.” Tina laughed. “But, I can promise you that there was no part of me that even thought about whether I was hip or not.”

    Bette leaned forward in her chair. She raised her eyebrows and lowered her voice. “Well, Miss Tina, you may not have thought about whether you are hip or not, but I can tell you without one doubt, that in that dress you are wearing tonight, you left hip way behind you, eating your dust! In fact, it’s…what is the word Paul used…oh yea…it’s slammin!!”

    Tina giggled. “Why thank you Bette. Ya know that yours is the only opinion I care about, so if you think I’m slammin, then I will consider this outfit a success!”

    Bette was up and out of her chair. She grabbed Tina’s hand, pulling her out of her own chair and into her arms. “Oh yea, it’s a success…,” she whispered and then seized Tina’s lips with her own, leaving no doubt in Tina’s mind, or body about what Bette thought of how she looked. Finally Bette released Tina’s lips, leaning back as they both gasped for air, looking at each other with surprise at the force of the kiss. Smiling Bette took Tina’s hand and started leading her out of the bar. “Come on Baby. Let’s go, I want to dance with you.” And as they left the bar, neither one noticed all the slacked jawed women they were leaving behind, just staring at these two gorgeous women, who obviously loved each other very much.

    “*****,” said one women, “that was beyond hot!!!” “Oh yea,” said another, “if that’s what I have to look forward to when I get older, then bring it on baby, cause I am so there!!!!”

    Tina and Bette arrived at the dinner club, both still feeling the lingering affects of that incredible kiss. It had been all Tina could do to concentrate on where she was going, as they drove back downtown. God, she hadn’t been kissed like that in over 15 years. As fulfilling a lover as Dan had been, there was just no comparison between Bette and Dan when it came to kissing. Bette’s kisses were…well…Bette’s kisses left Tina feeling like she had absolutely no control of her motor functions, but at the same time, fired such a passion inside, from the top of her head to the tips of her toes…settling in one central area…an area which was now aching with desire.

    Bette on the other hand was waging a battle inside. She couldn’t believe the impact that kiss had on her. The desire that had ripped through her body, was something she hadn’t experienced in such a long time. She was both exhilarated by that feeling, as well as afraid of it. She knew she needed to talk to Tina about what she was feeling, she just wasn’t sure how Tina would react. Bette so wanted to make love with Tina, but…she just couldn’t. Would Tina understand? God, she hoped so.

      Whatever is keeping Bette from getting together with Tina is fixable. Your faithful readers no doubt will take up a collection to get Bette whatever help she needs to move beyond this. Heck I’ll send her to therapy myself. lol Please bring these two together.

I think losing someone (Nica), you feel the guilt about moving on..coupled with the fact that these two left their own relationship in turmoil, so many years ago..yeah, I see why Bette’s nervous. And she’s older in this story so, she might feel uncomfortable about that as well. Great story and great chapter.

    7. Hmm… I wonder what’s up with Bette. While I can guess why she’s so reluctant, has she changed that much? You’ve left me curious and impatiently waiting for the next one…

    8. I haven’t been posting, but wanted you to know I have been reading it all, seahurst! Now quit being tease and explain what’s going on with Bette… :)

    9. I am sure the lingering guilt and regretful of their past is playing on her mind as well as moving on from Nica. It is a lot to comprehend and allow the mind to come to terms with all. In its; own time, a few days is not long when you figure how lon it has been for these two and no physical involement. Is quit daunting when you think about it. So a slow progression is so much warranted here for both of their sakes. I believe in Seahurst to keep these two togeather. It will be breathe taking and speechless when it happens and it will but not in three days. After all it was almost a year after their break-up and three months of wooing from Nica to get her to that point. So there are scars left from there last sexual encounter.

    13. I am enthrawled with this story. Like all before have left their opinons on the subject of Bette not go to the other level of intimacy. All are good and I hope that they are right to some degree. But I am hoping for Sundays to be comletely off base, it would be tragic for Bette to of contracted AIDS or prehaps complete breast augumentation or other disease. For Aids I doubt that Bette would of used all precaution, she is too smart for tht to of happened. but the others are all genetic, so that could be a possibility. But I will leave this to be answered to the Queen of this story to tell us. I just hope that it is sooner than later. I am aware that it is just a story, but why do we buy books for we want to and find out that the lovers do after all find each other. It is our fairy tale, and we want things to work out well for our two women, who after all wish that they find peace and love and a life togeather after all. thanks so much for this story. Please continue with such grace and style.

    31. Wow such a love story. I have read all the post, I am with Blue Moon you need to set the record straight for us. What I get from this chapter is bette is in conflict with her inner self. Should she allow her self to feel the pleasure that she so much desires, or does she allow her self wallow in the twinge of guilt that still haunts her from her and Tinas past relationship. For if not the infidility she prehaps feels that they could of salvaged their relationship and no break-up would of occured . but now Tina has an ex- along with children that aren’t aware of her past life. And then Nica she will move on from there, put that to rest. And she has her daughter to think of also. So so much to think about with this reconnection. but Seahurst you have the reins so bring us in when you are ready. thanks
