Chapter 10



(Two months later, Friday night, Teresas house.)

Tina was lying on the couch in Teresas house, her legs resting on Teresas lap while Teresa was moving her hand up and down Tina’s thighs.

They were seeing each other for almost two months now and spent most of their free time together.

Tina was already 8 months pregnant and her belly has grown to the size of a basketball.

Teresa moved her hand to caress Tina’s belly, it was beautifully round and Teresa loved touching her.

She could feel the baby moving inside, she loved doing that because she was also attracted to Tina.

They haven’t made love yet and Teresa’s desire was rising. She found herself devouring Tina with her eyes only and had to take many long, cold showers during those two months of dating in order to control herself, she didn’t want to push Tina into doing anything she wasn’t ready to do, she felt that it wasn’t just the pregnancy that held Tina back from giving herself to her.

Tina looked at Teresa and saw the lust in her eyes, Teresas touch was arousing her as well, but she still wasn’t ready to make love to another woman besides Bette.

Tina knew the day would soon come when she would have the baby and she wouldnt have any more excuses for not spending the night with Teresa.

They lay on the couch looking at each other, both having the same thoughts.

Tina: “Im sorry Teresa,” she said, feeling bad about rejecting her again.

Teresa: “Don’t be sorry Tina,” she replied with only love in her eyes, “I don’t want to put pressure on you.”

Tina: “I know, she continued, “you have been so understanding all this time but I know you have your needs,” Tina could only imagine how difficult it was for Teresa to be so close to her, clearly wanting to make love to her and being rejected over and over again. It was obvious that Teresas good looks and personality had made her a woman that always got what she wanted.

Teresa: “All I need is YOU…. to be close to you, whenever you’re ready, Ill be here wanting you.”

Tina didn’t know what to say, “What did I do to deserve this incredible woman?” she thought,” she has so much patience, so much love to give me….will I ever be ready?”

Teresa was incredible indeed. In the two months they have been seeing each other and getting to know each other better, Teresa cared for Tina like no one had before and gave her all the love and attention she so desperately needed.

Tina: “I don’t know when Ill be ready …..it could take some time even after the baby is born, she said trying not to let Teresas get her hopes up.


Teresa stopped caressing Tina’s belly, she looked straight into her eyes and said, “even if it takes a year ……..Ill wait for you.

Tina was speechless, she reached out to take Teresa’s face in her hands and kissed her.

Tina: “Thank you, she whispered, tears in her eyes.


(Saturday)


Bette was coming out of Dr Johnsons office. She had been in intensive therapy the past two months. She was determined to heal herself from all the sorrow she experienced in the past couple of years. Today she felt that she had made a major breakthrough in the session and her spirits were lifted. This was also the session in which she decided she felt strong enough and had made positive changes and thought she could try and contact Tina again and hopefully try to win her love back.

She dialed Alices number as she was walking to her car.

Alice: Hello?”

Bette: “Hey Alice,” she said joyfully.

Alice: “What’s up Bette?” she noticed the excitement in Bette’s voice.

Bette: Feeling great!…everything is great…..any plans for tonight?”

Alice: “No, nothing special,” she replied surprised. It has been months since Bette wanted to go out or do anything with her at night; they only met for lunch every once in awhile.

Bette: “Good, do you want to call Dana and Shane? I thought we could meet at the Planet for a few drinks.”

Alice: “Sure, that sounds great ….whats the occasion?”

Bette: “Im celebrating,” she replied filled with joy.

Alice: “Don’t tell me…. they finally fired Franklin?”

Bette laughed: “No …even better… are we on or not?”

Alice: “We’re on, Ill call them right now.”

Bette: “Good…. 9 o’clock at the Planet.”

Alice: Nine It Is!!”

Bette hung up the phone and dialed Kits number.

No one answered, so she dialed the number again, but there was still no answer. She really wanted Kit to join them tonight. In the past few months Bette felt that her relationship with her big sister grew deeper and more mature. Bette no longer insisted on judging Kits lifestyle. Kit was now an independent, successful, sober woman and Bette was very proud of her. Kit was there for her when she needed her the most and for the first time she played her birth role as the older sister. She even accompanied Bette on a three day trip to visit their father and Bette saw for the first time how strong Kit really is. The reason for that visit was initiated by Bette, she wanted to confront her father with a few issues that came up in therapy.

And she did, starting with the way he treated Tina during their relationship and finishing with a statement that she will no longer put herself or any of her loved ones second to him. Kit was there all the time, giving her little sister the love and support she needed and Bette felt very fortunate to have her in her life.

When Bette saw that there was no answer on Kits phone for the second time she decided to relax. It was only 4oclock, still too early to go back to her apartment and change for tonight so she got in to her car and drove to her new favorite spot.

Tina was in her car on her way to the new apartment she rented. She was still living with Alice, but found a nice spot not far from Oscars place that she could move into after the baby is born. It was a 2 bedroom apartment with a nice balcony over looking a park. A great location for a childs first experiences.

The apartment was in a terrible shape and it needed a lot of work for it to be decent enough for her and the baby. It was spacious and the rent was extremely reasonable so she decided to take it and renovate it even If it takes a little longer than expected.

Oscar was putting all his free time fixing it. It needed new plumbing, a fresh coat of paint, the closets needed to be organized with shelves, and new doors. Oscar hoped to have it ready in a month, right after the baby was due.

Oscar was meeting her there so she could decide which colors to paint the baby’s room.

Tina drove slowly and with extra caution. Being 8 months pregnant made every task a little bit more complicated, including driving.
Usually it wouldn’t take her more then 25 minutes to get there but this time she took a longer way to get there. She took the route that went past her old house, the house she once shared with Bette.

It wasn’t the first time that she did that. She found herself at least 2-3 times a week passing through there, just staring at the house she once spent the best years of her life.
Sometimes she would cry, other times just staring at it, most of the time remembering bits and pieces of their life together.

Bette kissing her at the front door, before she left for work….. fixing the garden together….taking a late night swim…naked…making love in the pool….coming back from a long tiring day at the office and surprisingly finding Bette waiting for her, sitting on the front steps of the house in her pajama’s …..it seemed a lifetime ago.

She parked the car in front of the house. She could see silhouettes of people inside. If she stepped out of the car and walked towards the window she could see them. She didnt need to do so, she already knew who the new tenants were. They were a ***** couple, two guys and their son, a 13-year-old boy they adopted.
She saw them a few times before going out to dinner or coming back from the beach. She envied them, they were living the dream life she always wanted with Bette.

Now, there was no more Bette, no more house, the end of the fairytale.


“God,” she thought, “I would have died for that woman…. I would have fought the world for her…. nothing and no one mattered as long as I had her with me…why? why wasn’t I woman enough for her?”

Now, 8 months after their breakup, there wasn’t that much anger rising inside her when she thought of Bette. Most of the time she just blamed herself for not being desirable enough for Bette to be satisfied.

A lock of hair fell across her eye, she brushed it back with her hand. Her hair was long now, almost 2 inches longer than her shoulder line, cascading beautifully, blond and curly, still a little wet from the shower she took before she left Alices place.

She wiped the tears from the corner of her eyes.” At least Im not whining and crying like I did the first few times I came back here,” she told herself and started the car, ” I better go…Oscar Is waiting and Teresa should be there soon too”, she tried to gather her thoughts back to reality, ” okay…colors for the room….. green and yellow …..maybe , blue and pink….burgundy ….purp”. her mind went blank as she was making the turn back to the main road, directly in front of her, in the park around the corner from the house, standing in all of her glory …..was Bette.

Bette was there, her black slacks rolled up to her knees, sunglasses holding her wild curly hair up from touching her face, wearing a white, half buttoned blouse, looking down at the book she was holding In her hands, pacing barefoot on the grass.


“BETTE!?!?…..BAREFOOT IN THE PARK !?!?!?!?!?…..”
