It was Thursday night, Tina and Bettes first night out. They had a dinner celebration to go. Peggy was in town and not only she wanted to celebrate the Gerendish Collections project she also was more than happy with the babies.Dana and Alice were going to babysit as Shane had to work that night.

Dana and Alice appeared just in time. Bette opened the door to her friends, half dressed, in the middle of her make up session.

Yeah right, thank you Al nodded Bette, incouraging them in.

You look great Bette added Dana, smiling.

Leaving her purse on the couch Alice walked directly towards the bedroom.

Where is mom? She yelled.

She is in Shanes room answered Bette, leading Dana to their bedroom where the babies were.

Opening Shanes bedroom Alice found Tina, leaving Shane a note on the pillow.

Wow Tee, you look great! said Alice, noticing Tinas outfit.

You have to feed them at 8:30 then Started Tina, moving around the room, taking the napkins, placing them on their bed, getting the diapers, placing them on the bed too.

Al, relaxis easyTina left the feeding bottles in the fridgeall you have to do is heat them and then give it to them said Bette appearing from the bathroom

Oook said Bette, coming from the bathroom ready, are we? She asked Tina.

Sure nodded Tina, straring at Bette, taking a good look.

Ok then, lets go said Bette, taking Tinas hand, leading her to the living room.

Feeling Tinas doubts Bette smiled, sqeezing her hand.

Is ok Tee, they are readyright guys? she asked, looking at Alice.

Right, easyheat the bottles, feed them, put them back to sleepeasy Alice said, winking at them

Ok finally said Tina, walking to the door.

In the car Tina was dreaminly looking at Bette.

Chuckling, loving Tinas words, Bette said,

The shoes were the only thing (before Bettes words) that was really making her feel confident. She was wearing her high heels Manolos that Bette brought her last Christmas.

Then as Bettes words were vanishing from her conscience Tina noticed Bettes frowning.

You ok? She asked, placing her hand over Bettes.

Yeah, is just thatyou sure they are going to be ok?…I meanis Alice and Dana, what do they know about babies?…Teemaybe is too soonmaybe we should go back Bette said, here eyes on the road, her hands tightening the wheel.

They are fine, the babies are going to be finebesides, they have our cellsand am pretty sure Shane will be home soon Tina finished with a smile on her face.

You sure? How you know? Asked Bette, turning to look at Tina.

Because she is worse than youyou kow she tried to changed her appointment to be able to babysit? Tina answered, shaking her head, happy.

Back at home Alice was reading a magazine while Dana was checking the feeding bottles in the kitchen. As on a cartoon on tv Alice noticed something. Looking up from the magazine she looked around, wondering, smelling. Standing up she walked around the room and then, just at the cribs side, frowning she closed her eyes.

Dane, Dane!! she whispered, running towards the kitchen.

What? asked Dana, worried.

You have to change themis horrible Alice said, looking disgusted.

What? asked Dana, again.

The babies, the smellwow Alice said, waving her hand, rolling her eyes.

Al, cant be that bad chuckled Dana, walking back to the bedroom.

Yeah right, follow me nodded Alice, quickening her pace.

Alice entered the room and feeling the odor, frowned, turning to face Dana.

See!!! she yelled, trying to whisper, pointing to the cribs.

Al! they are babies, cmon whispered Dana walking to the cribs.

Ok, you take Jules, Ill check Jamie Dana ordered, taking the girl in her arms.

What?…(looking at the boy)no way Alice said, shaking her head.

Al!!!! Danas words were followed by a killer look that made Alice shrink like an Ally Mc Beal character.

Ok Alice mumbled, taking Jules up, holding him as far as possible.

Placing the boy on the bed, at the other side from where Dana was, Alice got lost in Jules cuteness till the odor hit her senses again.

God! he mumbled, waving the air, frowing her nose.

Dana, giggling, was undressing Jamie into her undies. Alice, looking at her decided to follow her steps. She took the tiny white t-shirt out. An action that took her almost a couple of minutes as she was still pretty sure babies were like glass, a silly movement, and kaput it was gone, broken.
Passing the thin tiny arms through the holes, trying to bend them was something that almost broke Alice nerves.Sighing deeply she finally smiled, seeing Jules with his bare torso wearing his undies over the diaper. Following Danas expertness, Alice nodded, taking Jules thin very long legs up. Carefully, she removed his undies, leaving the diaper, teasing her with its unmistaken smell.

Bingo! she said, looking at Dana, mine, is mine the one carrying the present she added, shaking her head in disgust.

Dana, lost in her duties was enjoying Jamies beautiful tiny body. Her wrinkled skin, her long tiny legs, her flying arms but mostly her peaceful, beautiful face.

Whispering silly words to the baby Dana was cleaning the baby with tissues. Then, applaying the cream she looked up, checking on Alice.

Alice was still staring at Jules, trying to decide how to approach the subject.

Cmon Al, wont be that badyou unfasten the diaper as Dana was talking Alice decided to follow her words with actions.

Nodding, she unfastened the diaper carefully, finding it difficult as it was too glued. Seeing Jules almost rolling from her moves, Alice ripped the diaper. Feeling the intense odor, Alice looked helpless at Dana, begging for help.

Smiling, trying to stop the giggle Dana rushed to Alices side, not losing the sight of Jamies figure. With expert hands she took the diaper out and taking a wet tissue cleaned him.

Now, apply the cream she added, rushing back to a sleepy Jamie that happy to be free was peacefully sleeping on the bed.

Cream? Where? Asked Alice, looking from the cream bottle to the naked baby.

Looking at Jules Dana realized something.

Wait, be careful with the belly button ok she said, looking down at Jamie, checking hers.

Yeah, ok so cream Alice was saying, opening the bottle, feeling the cold soft cream on her palm.

Looking at Jules, noticing his peaceful sleep she sighed, relieved.

Starting with the legs Alice tenderly applied the cream all over the baby, not missing a single spot of his wrinkled skin.

Done. Now what? She asked, proudly looking up.

Now you put another diaper on said Dana, dressing Jamie, not looking at Alice.

Oook, thats easy Alice said, nodding, taking the diaper, looking at it.

Taking Jules legs up, as she just saw Dana doing, Alice placed the diaper under him, and then, as she was trying to fasten it something happened.

Feeling her blood freezing, Alice opened her mouth, trying to voice the most horrible vision, but the only words that came out were,

Dane, Dane!!! she yelled, awakening Jules who surprised, looked at her, sobbing.

What, what? Asked Dana, surprised by Alices tone, taking Jamie up, rushing to Alices side.

IIits brokenit fell off Alice mumbled, her voice trembling.

What? Asked Dana again, looking at Jules who still lightly sobbing was looking at them.

That, that Alice said, pointing to the belly button, laying on the bed, at Jules side.

Taking it on her hand, checking it, Dana smiled, nodding.

Al, AL! Dana said, placing Jamie at Jules side.

Alice, leaning on Jamie, looked from her belly to Juless.

Yeah ok Alice said, nodding, still lightly trembling.

Noticing Alices state, Dana took Jules and placed him just in front of her.

Ok nooded Alice, taking Jamie up, holding her tight.


Alice, seated on the armchair was still holding Jamie, cradling her. Finishing with Jules Dana looked at her, smiling.

You know, we should feed them she said, taking the body up.

Now? asked Alice, tired.

Yeah Al, its timeyou dont want them to start crying right? asked Dana, walking towards Alice.

No, of course not said Alice, looking down at Jamie who was still peacefully sleeping.

Great, hold them, am going to heat the bottles.

Not waiting for Alices answer, Dana placed Jules in her arms too.

“Will be right back, ok added Dana, walking towards the kitchen, leaving a worried Alice looking at the babies.

Seeing Dana leaving the room put a knot on Alice stomach. Looking at the babies, peacefully sleeping in her arms she nodded, sighing.

“Oook, guys she started, looking at Jules.

Lets see Noticing Jules face, a smile grew on her face without her knowledge.

You know you are a cute guy Jules Nodding, smiling, Alice looked back to Jamie who was now waving his tiny hand in her sleep as if asking for attention.

As if she was listening Jamie made a sound, moving her hand again.

You ok over there? yelled Dana from the kitchen, surprising the babies, awakening Jules.

Jules started sobbing, drawing a worried look on Alices face. Whispering silly syllables Alice cradled him, just for a second before Jamie started sobbing too.

Helpless, not knowing what to do, cradling both of them, Alice sighed, looking at the door, praying for Dana to appear. Seeing that it was not happening, finding nothing else to do she opened her mouth and almost whispering, started singing;

“Ok, now what asked Alice, sitting still, looking at Dana.
