    Hungry Heart Part 13

A few days passed and Bette sat at her desk with her head buried under a mountain of paper work that she had thrown her self into a few hours ago, her mind was so over loaded that she was unable to think about Tina at all. James voice came through the intercom system and notified her that there was some one here to see her, she told him to sent them through and she began to pull up on what she was doing. The door opened to reveal the last person on her mind. The woman slowly walked into Bettes office as though she was afraid to be in the same room as her. She closed the door behind her and slowly sat down on the chair opposite Bette. Bettes gaze followed her every move as she her self remained completely silent and still. She shook her head and looked away from her trying to gather her thoughts.
    Hey Candace Bette said softly.
Hey Bette Candace replied with a hint of frustration in her voice.
    How can I help you?
Well for one, I wouldnt mind knowing why you stopped calling me? Candace snapped.
CandaceTina found out thats why I stopped calling you Bette said sincerely.
Oh, ***** Candace said raising a hand to her mouth in shock.
Yeah you could say that Bette smirked.
    Bette I am sorry
No Candace this isnt your fault Bette said looking her in the eye.
Yes it is, I knew that you had a girlfriend and I continued to peruse you
Candace, Tina isnt my girlfriend, Tina is my wife Bette said apologetically.
***** ***** Bette, just make me feel a little worse why dont you?
Candace this isnt your fault, it takes two to tango, I wanted you as much as you wanted me and I was stupid enough to go with that, no offence of course?
No none taken, Bette I am so sorry for this I never meant for any of this to happen Said Candace honestly.
I dont think either of us did, but it did happen and I have spent the last few weeks trying to find my life again, thats why I didnt call you
Yeah, sure, look I understand, Bette really I never meant for any of this to happen, if you had old me that you were married I would have never taken this job Candace said seriously.
Thank you Candace, its ok though, we had problems before, I think this just highlighted just how many there were.
Well I should go, um look, I know this probably isnt appropriate but if you ever need to talk to some one I would be happy to lend an ear Candace said getting up and going to the door.
Yeah, hey its not inappropriate, same applies to you though Bette said knowing that it would never happen.
Yeah well it was nice knowing you Bette Porter Candace said offering her hand for Bette to shake.
You too Candace Joule Bette said looking Candace in the eye as she shook her hand. Candace slowly turned and left the room silently, leaving Bette alone with her thoughts.

Candace walked out the door of Bette office and didnt come back, not for one last look at the woman who stole her heart in a matter of seconds. She left the gallery and made her way back too her life without the girl. Candace honestly felt horrible for what had happened between her and Bette. From the begging she had known that Bette was off limits, she knew that she was forbidden fruit, and still she went for her. Thats one of my fault she thought to her self, I always go for the ones I cant have.

Bette walked back around her desk and sat down and allowed her head to fall back against the chair. Well that wasnt as bad as it could have been, she thought to her self as a sigh resonated through the room. Bette honestly felt bad for not telling Candace on a prior occasion that Tina was her wife, but like she had a chance, like when was she going to tell her, before they went upstairs to the room at the B&B?

Bette rolled her eyes at her lame attempt at humor and decided to try and continue her work. She leaned forward and looked at the pile of paper in front of her and then at the one to her left.
So thats where the Amazon has gone to, She laughed to her self.

    1. Glad Candace left and was smart about the whole thing…Bette shouldn’t have said it was OK for them to talk to each other if they needed an “ear.” Over means over…love your story.
