..later that day when theyd brought Rosie home
Bette sighed and walked from the bedroom to the dining room.
She put the coffee machine on. She had a feeling theyd be up late and shed need the caffeine to fuel the coming ordeal.
She took out her mobile. James.. its meyes.. Rosies fine but I need you to cancel tomorrows meetings OK? Ill work from home .. call me if theres anything urgentBye
Next call Alice.yes.. yes..its OK..shes home.Tinas with her now I just wanted to say thanks for taking her in so quickly. no.. they dont think theres any long term problem weve just got to watch her for a while ..yes.. yes.. OK.. thanks Oh and can you ring the others for me? I need to get back to Tina.. OK.Bye
Last call Kit its meyes..thanks ..shes OKyeah were home…no…dont come over..Tinas a bit freaked out about it.. I just need to be with her for a while.. thanks..OK..yeah tomorrow.See ya.
Bette turned off the phone, pulled herself together and returned to their bedroom.
Tina was sitting in the rocking chair. Shed fed Rosie and was just sitting rocking her and watching her sleep. There were tears streaming down Tinas face as she held Rosie and looked at her. Bette walked over and sat on the bed nearby. She stroked Tinas arm and kissed Rosies head.
Itll be OK Tina. They said it wasnt serious Bettes heart was breaking as she looked at Tina. She didnt know what else to do for her. We need to put her to bed Tina.. she said softly do you want me to take her?
Tina shook her head. She held Rosie to her not wanting to let her go.
Bette leant over and eased Rosie out of Tinas arms. She needs to sleep baby..Im just going to put her in her bassinette OK?
She laid Rosie in her bassinette tucking her in tight. She watched her for a moment, making sure she was asleep then she walked back to Tina. She pulled Tina up out of the chair and held her tight. Its OK..we arent going to lose her..alright?
Tina continued to cry.. her whole body shaking.
Bette sat in the chair and guided Tina onto her lap; held her tight. They said shed be OK..that its unlikely to ever happen again.
Unlikely… echoed Tina.
Bette wrapped Tina in her arms and rocked her. She wasnt sure what else to say. She just kept repeating Itll be OK..
They sat like that for a long time until Tina gradually started to pull herself back together. I..Im sorry I lost it.. Tina said quietly I just dont know what Id do if something happened to her..
Bette kissed her and handed over a Kleenex so she could wipe her face. It wont OK? They said shes strong and healthy. Shell be OK…
Tina stood up and moved over to the bassinette.. as she looked at Rosie the tears started to fall again.
Bette came up behind her, put her arms around her. Come onlets get you something to eat…Rosie needs you..shes addicted to your breast milk you know..you need to stay healthy.
Bette turned her around and smiled at her, grazed her lips with a gentle kiss and took her hand. She pulled her into the kitchen.
Come on.. you dont want me to cook do you? She said hoping to make Tina smile.
..the next day
They were sitting together on the sofa.
Rosie was asleep but Tina kept getting up every few minutes to check on her. Bette had put the work on hold knowing that she couldnt focus on both things. This had to be a Tina and Rosie day.
So said Bette as she held Tina Are you ready to tell me where you were when Rosie got sick?
Tina was still upset and confused and feeling incredibly guilty about being with Rachael. She blurted out I was with another woman! OK!
Bettes jaw dropped open and she pulled away from Tina, the hurt evident in her eyes.

Hell,lunch with another woman,shouldn’t mean shit.In bed with another woman,yes.Tina needs to tell Bette about her feeling with Candace..Children gets sick so fast,over nothing.in acouple of hours the are up and running. Thank fpr writing
Ozlfan, my recent comments haven’t been commensurate with the gravity of your writing. Sometimes I just can’t be serious. I really like this story. Your interior dialogues and flashbacks help to round out the story and make it oh so realistic. Please overlook my occasional clownish ways and keep writing!
BTW, how old is Rosie? And I’d venture that Tina is feeling all sorts of emotions after giving birth, including the aimlessness of being home all day with an infant. I’m sure the fanfic group she’s in has filled a void. But, what would any of us know about that, huh? Thanks!

Okay. Which writer have you been taking notes from with these cliffhangers? :) I think it goes without saying that I will praying desperately for an update soon. You’re doing such a great job with this story. These cliffhangers are keeeelling me. 5 stars!!!
Shit! Now Tina that does not come out right. Specify what you were doing with the other woman. Bette’s mind and heart is probably going at 100 miles an hour. Poor Bette…Bette also needs to tell Tina about Candyass working at the CAC again. These two are like walking time bombs. Great chapter Oz, now stop teasing us okay? ;-)
Uh-roh, the sh*t has hit the fan! Next stop, divorce court. If Bette files for divorce, will she have to pay alimony? Rosie’s gonna have two mommmies and two houses. Stay tuned…
