..a few days later
Tina walked over to the table and placed the omelet in front of Bette.
Thanks said Bette looking up. She folded the paper and placed it to one side of her plate and picked up the coffee to take a sip. She glanced back at the paper.
T..didnt you know Catalina de Villeneuve – you know that woman who writes those trashy romance novels?
Oh.. you mean.. Dani.. I went to school with herwe email each other occasionally .. Tina tried to look over Bettes shoulder What about her?
Shes dead.. said Bette looking up to see how Tina would react.
Oh my god..where..how ? said Tina shocked that someone she knew had died.
Lets see.. Bette quickly scanned the start of the story it says here she was in Chicago..some huge book signing and some woman shot her..she died before they could get her to hospital.
Oh my god..why would they do that?
They dont really know yet..obviously the killer was deranged, angry about something .. Bette went back to reading the rest of the story and looked back up at Tina Oh..thats sad..they werent even a fan of hers.. it seems that she was seeing someone the shooter was obsessed withshe didnt want Catalina with them so she just took matters into her own hands.
Tina wasnt sure what to say. It was strange having someone your own age die. You just didnt expect it. Its sad but more understandable when someone older dies..but she was only thirty five. Theyd been best friends at school and had tried to keep in touch but Dani traveled so much that theyd just gradually grown further apart.
Do you want to go to the funeral? said Bette Theres some information here about it.
I..Im not sure..we werent closebut maybe Tina said.
Bette looked back at Tina; put her hand over Tinas. Want me to come with you?
Tina looked up at Bette and shook her head Im not sure.
Tina stood up and went into the kitchen, stood looking out the kitchen window and thought about Dani wondering what would have happened if theyd remained friends. She didnt want the kind of lifestyle that Dani had, she was happy here with Bette and Rosie. It reminded her how lucky she was, made her realise how much she could have thrown away if shed not been willing to forgive Bette and work with her to try and make it better. Babe ..I dont need to goMaybe Ill just send flowers..
Bette walked into the kitchen and put her plate into the dish washer. She walked up behind Tina and put her arms around her, rocked her Are you OK T?
Yeah .. I think so..
Im sorry..I shouldnt have blurted it out like that she turned Tina around to face her Would you like to celebrate her life in some way?
You know Babe..Id like that Tina looked into Bettes eyes Just you and me..here together..saying goodbye to someone I once cared about….

Ozlfan… sorry to hear bout the stuff on the home front hope things worked out for you soon. This story is growing on me steadily as the chapters progress further I must say that the Dani bit LOL is rather unexpected. Listen to your heart keep on writing, from the looks of things, Love Me Tender is growing on a lot of people out there and as always thanks for sharing.
I love Pika’s writing. But, Restoration with Tina and Dani together sucks as far as I’m concerned. Oz your writing is beautiful, I am crazy about Love Me Tender, but even for me killing Dani seems a bit harsh LOL. I feel guilty for not liking Dani, now that she is gone. How wierd is that?
*lol* You must have sweet talked Pika something fierce. :D Gotta admit, didn’t see her death coming. Still, your intro to the story made me laugh.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. I can’t thank you enough. First, for putting up these chapters in spite of your flood problems – which I hope has been resolved by the nice insurance people? Second – for this wonderful story. And last, but best, killing off Dani…..I don’t believe in violence, but I was just getting too depressed with Pikagirl’s story. She is a good writer, but I began to wonder if she saw the same Bette and Tina we saw on The L Word. Thank you, again and again!
Thankyou for all your nice comments and good wishes – Pikagirl was very nice about it all I wrote and asked and she said go for it..she even suggested a method of killing her (car crash)- but I like my way better!!
P.S. I wouldn’t dare kill off Teddy but I am considering finding an annoucement somewhere that she’s happily hooked up with a certain Dr!!
Pretty funny.I agree with Down Low.I love Pika’s writing.I stopped reading her new series because I don’t like her version of Tina and the Dani character. How could you make her agree to let you kill Dani in your story?
Ah well…Dani’s life without Tina wouldn’t be much worth living anyway. Hmm…I wonder who she left her money to…I expect Tina now has a nice, fat Running Away Fund – just in case!
