Bettes office..

She frowned and had just picked up a red pen to make some alterations when there was a knock at the door. She looked up at the person whod pushed back her door; it was too early for Tina to have finished her lunch with Alice.

Hey baby girl Kit walked into the office.

Kit, what are you doing here? she moved around the desk to give Kit a hug and eyed the sack Kit held up in her hand More food?

Yeah..Tina rang, said she was having lunch with Alice..Im going to have to speak to that wife of yours about making you a packed lunch so you dont starve.

Dont you dare.. Bette gave Kit a swat on the arm she has enough on her plate at the moment

Kit took a good look at Bettes smiling face You know, youre positively glowing.. married life must be agreeing with you.

Bette thought for a moment You know Kit. I think that Tina and Ive finally got over another one of those big hurdles myuh..cheating..caused. Im not happy about how it happened but I am happy that we finally talked it through. I really think things are going to be better between us and I thought they were great before. She smiled.

Well good for you said Kit setting the lunch bag down on the desk and starting to take the containers of food out. We dont need any more Porters growing up without both their parents. It about time one of us got our ***** together. Kit put the food down and turned and gave Bette an enveloping hug pressing Bette into her ample bosom.

They stayed like that for a while. Both women happy that their relationship had strengthened so Bette felt able to confide in Kit and Kit felt free to drop in and talk about the serious stuff theyd often avoided before.

As Kit turned she noticed Rosies seat tucked on the other side of Bettes desk. Hey little one.. she moved around to see Rosie better.

Bette put her hand on Kits arm, holding her back. Kit, dont wake her up. Shes just gone to sleep. Im hoping shell stay that way until Tina arrives to pick her up.

Kit looked at Bette Whatre you gonna do if she needs a feed?

Tina expressed some milk earlier so Ill give it to her if she wakes.. Bette arched an eyebrow but Rosie prefers it straight from the source ..so to speak.

Kit looked at her beautiful niece and desperately wanted to pick her up, to cuddle her and kiss her soft little cheek, run her fingers through the baby soft hair Couldnt I just..

No.. Bette said emphatically.

But..

No Kit.. Bette looked hard at Kit Tina told you what happens when you wake Rosie up. It upsets her routine. Rosie likes to wake when shes ready and shes much happier that way and it makes us much happier that way.

Kit sighed Uh OK..I guess that sign in the bedrooms for my benefit is it?

Bette smiled Im glad you noticed it. Tina put it up after that time you woke Rosie when all you girls came around.

Kit laughed Yeah well I could hardly miss itwhat was it again.. LOOK…. BUT TOUCH AT YOUR OWN RISK….A VERY TIRED MOTHER LIVES HERE…..AND IF YOU AWAKE THE BABY BE PREPARED TO SPEND THE NIGHT….it wasnt exactly subtle you know.

Kit, you and Alice dont always get subtle Bette laughed and nudged Kit in the arm to tell her she was kidding around.

Kit moved back around the desk she finished getting the containers out a little more noisily than was warranted but when Rosie still didnt stir she settled down in a chair with Bette next to her and they started talking So tell me about this great epiphany you and Tina experienced
