Alice hugged Tina as she came through the gate Hey..How was it?

Tina raised her eyebrows and rolled her eyes.

Alice sympathised by putting her arm around Tina and hugging her again then she took some of the bags. How come Bette let her wife fly home alone?

Shes gone for a job interview said Tina finally able to open up to someone.

What? said Alice as shocked as Tina had been when shed first heard about it.

Umm.. her mother set it up.

*****! Alice put all of her outrage into that one word.

Uh huh..you can say that again

What about you and Rosie? said Alice.

Its a good opportunity for Bette Tina tried to defend Bette.

But shes put the CAC on the map said Alice wondering why shed even consider leaving the CAC when she was so successful.

Yeah.. Thats the problem shes put it on the map so whats left to do? Bette likes a challenge.

OhOK..but what about you and what you want?

Tina shrugged I dont knowwell have to discuss it when Bette knows whats on offer.

Alice just hugged her again, not sure what to say. She just hoped they would discuss it.


After they got home

Alice helped Tina in with the luggage handed over Tinas car keys and gave her a quick hug Sorry ..I have to go..theres a meeting at the magazine and Im late already.

Its OK..thanks for the lift.

Alice waved, ran down the steps and screeched off down the street in her car.

Tina laid Rosie in her bassinette then stripped off and had a shower leaving the door open so she could hear Rosie if she cried. She found some clean comfortable jeans and a shirt then headed back out into the kitchen to make coffee before she started to prepare for Tuesdays meeting.

She noticed the message light on their machine and pressed play.

Hey Babe, its just me..I hope you and Rosie got home safe. Im on my way to the interview now. Keep my side of the bed warm. Ill be there soon. I love you.

Tina smiled; this was vintage Bette, the caring, loving person she ached to be with. She wondered whether the plane had even left the runway when Bette had left the message.

Tinas smile broadened when she heard the start of the next message Me again..just letting you know that the interview was interestingIm on my way to the airport..Ill tell you all about it when I get homeIll be there soon.. Love you.

The next message started Hey Tina, its your Mom..I just wanted to let you know Im coming over to LA and I was hoping I could meet Rosie. Ring me when you get the message and Ill tell you the dates.

Tina sighed, shed had enough of parents for one weekend maybe shed call her mother back tomorrow.
