Life With Liz – CH 26
Bob??? Bob??? BOB!?!?!?
Liz ran through the house in search of her little furry friend hoping to find him before either of her mommies found him, in which case she would be in big trouble. She ran down the hallway and looked in the bathroom and in her mommies bedroom but he was nowhere to be found. Liz ran out to the living room and looked all over and under everything but still couldnt find him. The doors and windows were all closed so she knew that he was somewhere in the house but she had no idea where that was. Tina was outside working in the garden and completely oblivious to what was going on inside and Bette was at the kitchen table with her work spread out trying to get some work done before a big meeting on Monday. It was Saturday afternoon and after all the rain they had experienced for the past couple of days having a nice sunny day was great. Liz wanted to go outside and play but with everything still being a little damp and given that she was fighting off a cold both Bette and Tina agreed it was best if she stayed indoors. She had managed to occupy herself for about half an hour until she discovered that Bob wasnt in his cage and began her frantic search throughout the house. Bette looked up and saw Liz run into the living room and she smiled and put down her pen as Liz came bounding over to her.
Hi babywhat are you doing?
Nothing mommy
How are you feeling?
Okay
Liz just smiled at Bette who chuckled and set her down to go on her way. As Liz ran back to her room to devise a plan to get Bob back Bette just shook her head and smiled. Kids will be kids I guess, she thought as she turned her attention back to her work. Back in her room, Liz was trying to come up with ways to find Bob or lure him out of hiding. She was pacing back and forth with her arms crossed occasionally lifting one to her head like shed seen Bette do a million times when she was thinking.
Okay how do I find Bob? Maybe he wanted to go outside and play? I know I know
Liz got all excited and ran around gathering the supplies she would need to carry out her master plan. First she snuck into the kitchen and ran to the fridge. Bette saw her come in but didnt think anything of it until she heard the refrigerator door open.
Are you hungry baby?
No mommyjust getting something for Bob
Bob? Liz he has his own food honey
I know but he really wanted some people food today
Wellokay just this once okay? We dont want him getting used to people food
Okay mommy.
Liz grabbed a piece of cheese, basically whatever was at her eye level, and ran back into the room smiling to herself that she had managed to fool mommy. She put the cheese on her bed and grinned.
Okaygot that.oh yeah
Next she ran out of the room and snuck out the side door to the garage. She was looking for a box of some sort and she was in luck. She saw a box with some papers in it and without another thought she dumped the papers out and ran back inside with the box. She giggled as she ran past Bette who didnt seem to notice her too much and she made it safely to the confines of her room with her precious box in hand. Now all she needed to do was wait. She opened the door and stuck her head out as she glanced around for any signs of mommies and when she saw that she was in the clear she opened the door a little more and set the cheese up next to the door inside the box. Her plan was to wait next to the box and once Bob appeared to eat the cheese she was going to trap him in the box. Not bad for a three year old.
Come out, come out wherever you are
Liz taunted Bob quietly as she began giggling to herself. She sat down next to the box hoping that Bob would come out soon but after fifteen minutes she was disappointed that her plan had produced little action from her four legged friend. Liz decided she needed either more cheese or something else that would lure Bob out so she ran back to the fridge to look for more food for Bob. Bette saw her come out again and she peered at her over her glasses.
Honey what are you doing?
Nothing mommy
Liz replied sweetly as she opened the refrigerator door again. This time she decided that maybe cheese wasnt the way to go so she looked for a piece of fruit of some sort thinking that he might want something sweet. She saw some cut up apple slices so she grabbed one and ran back to the room leaving Bette to just watch her retreating figure. Once again Bette shook her head at Lizs comedic nature. After Liz made it safely back to her room she looked at her box and decided maybe it was the box not the food that wasnt getting Bob to come out and play. She set the apple slice down next to the cheese and decided to head back out to the garage to see what she could find. Liz looked around the garage but couldnt really figure out what she should take. She remembered her favorite cartoons and remembered how the good animal was always being lured out with food tied to a rope so she looked around for string or something. Then it caught her eye. She saw thin piece of rope tied around a blanket so she managed to untie it and grabbed the rope and headed back to her room. Liz took the piece of fruit and tied the rope around it tightly, almost breaking it into two pieces, and she threw the fruit out into the hallway hoping that maybe Bob would come around and see the food and she could pull him in. Bette got up to use the bathroom at that point and Liz heard her come down the hall so she quickly pulled the rope and apple slice back into the room with her. Bette heard Liz shut the door quickly but she thought nothing of it and just headed into the bathroom.
Hehehehe
Liz giggled to herself as she thought about Bette coming out of the bathroom and finding Bobs treat. Bette began to wander back to the kitchen to get back to work when she remembered she needed to grab some files from the garage. She headed outside and upon entering the garage she let out a massive yell.
TINA!!!
Tina came running in from the backyard and ran into the garage to see what was the problem. She stopped dead in her tracks when she saw the paperwork that was strewn all over the ground and the boxes of some of their old stuff that seemed to be tipped over when the blanket hit them as they came undone. Bette looked around and seethed anger as Tina walked over and helped her pick up the papers that were strewn all around and helped her put the things back in the boxes. Bette thought about how the things could have gotten like that and suddenly it dawned on her.
LIZ!!!
Tina looked at Bette like she was crazy.
Bette what makes you think Liz did this?
She ran into the house with a boxI didnt think much of it but she must have come out here and gotten it. Dammitlook at this stuff ***** ruined
It will be okay Bettenow where are you going?
To talk to your daughter
Bette stormed into the house leaving Tina to just sigh and finish cleaning up. She had a feeling that Bette might just be on a rampage, and she wanted to protect Liz, but if it really was Lizs fault then Liz needed to learn. Bette entered the house from the side door.
LIZ!!!
Liz heard Bette on the warpath and suddenly she looked around in terror. She threw the apple and cheese into the box that was tipped over on the ground and she scurried out to meet Bette halfway in the hall so that Bette wouldnt find her Bob catching device. Bette glared down at her with her hands on her hips.
Liz did you make a mess in the garage?
No mommy
Liz lying is not good
I didnt mommyI just needed a box
Box for what?
For Bob
Why would Bob need a box Liz?
Liz looked around like she was looking for the answer somewhere. Bette tried to keep eye contact with her but Liz kept looking around quicker than Bette could follow. Bette got impatient.
LIZlook at medid you make a mess in the garage?
No mommyI just went to get a box.
Did the box have papers in it Liz?
Um
Liz looked down all sad and stuff and Bette knew Liz got the point. Bette bent down and put her hands on Lizs shoulders.
Honeyif you want to get something from the garage just ask mommy or me okay?
Liz looked down and nodded slowly. Bette felt slightly guilty for getting mad at Liz and she knew that as much of a mischief as Liz could be she really was just a good kid. Bette smiled at Liz.
So honey why did you need the box for Bob?
UmIm trying to catch him
Catch him? Liz did he get out again?
Yeahsorry mommy
Its okay babylets just concentrate on catching him okay?
Liz just nodded dejectedly as Bette took her hand and led her back down to her room. Upon opening the door Bette smiled and pointed.
Look honey
BOB!!!
Bob looked up from the apple he was eating as Liz squealed and ran towards him. Bob just froze in horror as Liz picked him up and hugged him tight.
Oh Bob!!! Im so glad you came back
Liz danced around with Bob as Bette just watched the interaction and giggled to herself. She was glad that Liz was happy but she hoped that Liz learned her lesson. Bette made a quick decision and decided that Liz didnt need to be yelled at right now. She bent down to Lizs eye level again.
Well honey looks like you did a good job in getting Bob back. Thats my smart girl
Liz just beamed as Bette petted Bob gently. For whatever reason Bette just didnt have the heart to get really really angry with Liz right now. She knew that Liz would learn her lesson about things in her own time and she just hoped that Tina would agree with how she handled this situation. Bette stayed in the room with Liz a little longer and played with Liz and Bob and then she helped Liz get Bob back in his cage. All had ended well tonight and hopefully they would end well like this every night.
Oh yeah and the next day Bette got Bob a new cage with a child proof lock.

I can’t believe Bette hasn’t gotten rid of Bob yet. Great story, loved how Liz tried to catch him.
So, Bette is petting the ‘rodent’ now? She’s come a long way. And she’s learning patience too! Good job! I luv Liz!
What an amusing chapter, to this very enjoyable story. I liked the ending (child proof lock). We know that one doesn’t exist for liz.
