Bette woke up to the sound of a screaching alarm clock. She lifted her head and moaned then droped it back down on her soft pillow. Tina then started to stir, she reached up and smacked the alarm turning it off. Bette groaned then slowly crawled out of bed and walked into the bathroom. She turned on the shower and let steam fill the room. Bette rubbed her face and mustered up the energy to climb in. She managed to get herself somewhat persentable, and walked down the hall. Tina was also awake, she was in the kitchen making tea.

Bette: “morning” she mumbled as she layed her upper body on the counter.

Tina: “I can’t believe you guys stayed out that late” she said laughing.

Bette: “Well I now know where George get’s her spunk” she said pulling her body up off the counter.

Tina: “Do you want some coffee or something?”

Bette: “No thanks, im just going to stop by the planet on my way out” she took a deep breath and straitened her jacket. “How do I look?”

Tina: “Tired” she replied giving Bette a sympathetic smile.

Bette: “Exelent. I think I might go in a little late today. Do you want to come to The Planet with me, im sure Dana will be there or something.”

Tina: “Um, yeah sure. Yeah, ok. Let me get changed.” she said hurring off to the bedroom.

When Bette and Tina walked into The Planet they didn’t expect to find Alice and Kathy there chatting it up.

Tina: “What the *****? Why is my mom hanging out at The Planet with Alice? Nothing good will come of this.”

Bette smiled and simply said “I have no idea”. They walked over to the counter and ordered. “I guess we better go say hi” Bette said nudging Tina. “Yeah, I guess we better.” Tina replied then made her way over to the table.

Tina: “Hi, mom” she said pulling up a chair.

Kathy: “Oh hi honey”

Tina: “What are you doing here? Where’s George?”

Alice: “Oh, she’s on her way down right now.”

Bette: “Really? She’s awake at 8:30 in the morning?” she said looking down at her watch.

Kathy: “Mommy gave her a wake up call this morning” she said smiling.

Alice looked over at Bette and Tina with raised eyebrows and smiled as she took a drink of her coffee.

Tina: “I bet she loved that”

Kathy: “She should be here by now, if that little ***** went back to sleep..” she said picking up her cell phone. “hey!….where are you..the girls are already here…oh, you are….are you lying….ok” she hung up the phone and looked towards the door.

George was walking in the door, cell phone in hand. She was wearing sunglasses and her hair was disheveled. George looked around and spotted her mom, she waived her cell phone in the air and walked over to the counter. Moments later she made her way over to the table.

Kathy: “Well good morning sunshine” she said looking up at George. “Don’t you have any clothes?” she said frowning at George’s choice on clothing.

George was surprised it took her mom a whole day to comment on her clothes. She quickly replied “What? Am I naked?” as she looked down at herself.

Kathy: “That’s not what I meant, smart *****”

George smiled and pulled her hood over her head as she sat down. The table was quiet for a moment.

Kathy: “Oh George, I almost forgot. I ran into Holly last week, she asked how you were doing. I gave her your phone number, she said she was going to be in L.A. visiting some friends soon. You haven’t seen her for a while huh?”

Tina looked at her mom and shook her head.

George: “I have to go to the bathroom” she said getting up from the table.

Alice looked at Tina with confusion.

Kathy: “Doesn’t she want to see her?”

Alice: “What? Who’s Holly?” she asked with great interest.

Tina: “Holly is the reason George left Pittsburgh. They were dating for two years and were living together. Apearently, Holly became interested in some guy and broke up with George. She broke her heart.”

Alice’s eyes widened and her jaw dropped.

Kathy: “I thaught they were just roomates”

Tina dropped her head in defete.

Bette: “Well I should be getting to work now.” she said getting up. “I’ll see everyone later” she waived and walked out the door.

George walked back over to the table and sat down.

Kathy: “Im sorry honey, I didn’t mean to upset you.”

George: “It’s fine mom”

Alice looked up. “bogey, two o’clock” she said pointing towards the door. George looked up and Tina turned around. Tina’s eyes grew wide when she saw Helena walking in. “*****” she said quickly turning around. George looked over at Tina “good luck with that” she said then looked over at her mom. Helena saw Tina sitting at the table and walked over to her.

Helena: “Hey, baby.” she said kissing a petrified Tina on the cheek.

Tina: “uh, hi…Helena..” she replied nervously.

Kathy leaned over to George with a look of confusion. “Who is that?” she wispered. George glaired at Helena and replied “she’s a skeeze”. Tina looked over at George with a look that was begging for help. All George had to offer was a shrug of her sholders. Helena looked over at the unfamilliar face then looked at Tina and asked “Who’s your friend?”

Tina: “Oh yeah, sorry. Helena, this is…my mom, Kathy. Mom this is Helena”

Kathy: “Why don’t you join us.”

Helena looked at George and Alice knowing they didn’t want her to.

Helena: “Yeah ok, I’ve got a few minutes to spare.” she sat down and reached over to hold Tina’s hand.

Alice and George both looked at Tina with dumbfounded faces.

Alice: “It really kills me to say this but I have to get to work.” she said getting up from the table. “call me” she wispered sternly to George then waved goodbye.

George saw the panic on Tina’s face, she turned to her mom and noticed her look of confusion and the fact that she was about to say something that she probably shouldn’t. “Mom! Why don’t we uh, go shopping for new clothes.” she said getting up.

Helena: “Going already?” she said sarcasticly

George: “Yes” she simply replied “Tina, i’ll talk to you later”

Tina: “Yeah, i’ll call you. Bye.”

Kathy: “Ok, see you later honey. Nice to meet you Helena” she said getting from the table.

George and Kathy made their way outside. “What’s going on?” Kathy said walking towards the car. George opened the car door and climbed in “What do you mean?” she said starting the engine. Kathy shut her door “Why was she holding her hand?”. George looked over at her mom, she was trying to avoid the subject entirly. “Tina’s a ***** mom, that’s what we do” she said smiling at her mom hopping the convorsation would stop there. “I thaught Tina was with Bette”. George took a deep breath. “Um I think perhaps maybe you should talk to Tina about that” she said putting the car in drive. “There is something about that girl that I don’t like” she said looking at George. “Yeah, I know what you mean.” George replied and drove away.

Helena: “You didn’t tell me your mom was in town”

Tina: “Yeah, well she just kinda showed up yesterday. I didn’t know she was coming”

Helena: “Alright. Oh here she is” she said standing up

Tina: “Who?” she said turing around.

Helena got up to greet someone then returned to the table.

Helena: “Tina this is Emma.” she said as she sat down. “We are flying to New York tomorrow morning. She is doing some work for me”

Tina was confused and just replied “ok”

Helena stopped paying attention to Tina and began to flirt with Emma. She had invited Emma to stay with her in New York. At this point Tina was fed up. She gathered her things and got up from the table.

Helena: “Where are you going?” she said getting up to follow Tina.

Tina: “I know we are dating other people but when we’re together I expect us to be together” she said angerly.

Helena: “Your the one that wanted to date other people, besides we were never really “together”, you and I”

Tina looked at her in frustration and said “have fun in New York” then she walked out the door.
