Summary of the previous chapter: Alice and Dana find Bette close to home. The gang finally leave Bette and Tina alone.
Bette begins to clean up from her impromptu party. Tina stands, watching her.
Bette. We have to talk.
No we dont, Tina. Its late. Were both tired. Lets just go to bed.
You can just go in there and go to sleep like nothing happened? For crying the ***** out loud Bette, dont you even remember what you saw in there earlier today?
Bette turns to face Tina, her face a mask of steel, her voice hard. I can assure you that for as long as I live I will remember the scene I saw earlier. Now would you like to help me change the sheets or may I at least go do it myself now?
NO. GODDAMNIT, BETTE. TALK TO ME.
What the ***** do you want me to say, Tina? You look great in bed with another woman?
Say something, Bette. Please.
Okay, Tina. I am saying that I am going to go into OUR bedroom and I am going to change OUR sheets because the thought of HER juices in my bed makes me want to vomit. We wont even go into how I feel about the thought of HER juices on MY WIFE.
Is that all I am to you, Bette? Your wife?
What would you like me to call you? My mistress? Oh, Im sorry, I think Helena got claims to that.
Bette turns on her heel and goes into their bedroom. Tina follows grateful that Bette is finally admitting that something happened even though Tina knows that it will be painful to hear what Bette has to say.
Tina arrives in the bedroom to find Bette furiously stripping the bed. Finished, she bundles up the comforter, blanket, pillows, and linens. Tina watches as Bette exits the front door. She knows that Bette is depositing the entire bundle in the garbage can.
On her way back to the bedroom, Bette stops at the linen closet. She returns with sheets and a blanket.
We can buy a new comforter and pillows tomorrow.
Bette stands beside the bed and tosses half of the sheet to Tina so that she can begin making the other side.
Bette.
Tina, why cant you just drop it for now? We will just fight and both say things well regret. Please, just let it stay buried as I asked you to do.
Arent you even curious Bette? Dont you want to know why?
No, Tina. I dont want to know right now. I dont think I can handle it. Despite her best efforts, Bette is starting to cry. Please dont make me go there right now. If you have any feelings at all left for me, Tina, please dont do this right now.
