    You can’t chage fate-Chapter 10

Tina hung up her phone and looked around her apartment as a slight grin appeared on her face. She squealed with excitement and threw herself onto the couch, she pulled the blanket off the back out the couch and snuggled herself into it. As Tina rolled over her eye caught sight of a picture of her and Eric together. She loved Eric as a person but she couldn’t pretend to be in love with him anymore. All of her security, everything she knows, went out the window the day she met Bette and she wasn’t going to let this new sense of independence go unexplored. Everything she was experiencing was exactly what she had been looking for when she moved out to L.A. She had no idea that it was going to be a woman, giving her all of this. Tina got up and took a deep breath the headed for the bathroom to take a shower.

Bette said goodbye to Alice and headed home. As she sat in traffic she thought about how she ought to act tonight. Their relationship was so confusing, Bette really didn’t know how to act. She really wanted to respect Tina’s feelings and give her space, but she didn’t want to rely on time and Tina’s confusion. She wanted Tina bad and she didn’t know how much longer she could take it. She was willing to let her reputation and it’s perks go just to have Tina. Bette’s thoughts were interrupted by the sound of horns honking. Bette looked up and noticed that she was sitting at a green light and there were cars lined up behind her, “Oops” she said out loud as she hit the gas.

Bette was sitting on the couch leafing through some paperwork, not rerally paying attention to what she was doing. She threw the paperes down on her coffee table and looked over at the clock. Bette got up and made her way over to the phone, she proped herself up on the counter and dialed.

    Tina: “hello?”

    Bette: “Hey”

    Tina: “Hey yourself”

    Bette: “What up?”

Tina: “Nothing really, just sitting around waiting for your call”

Bette: “What a coincidence, I was just sitting around waiting to call you”

Tina: “I thought you were doing paperwork?”

Bette: “I tried, but I couldn’t concentrate, so I gave up”

Tina: “Im sorry to hear that. So does that mean you want me to come over now?”

    Bette: “It does indeed”

Tina: “Well, let me get ready and I will be right over”

Tina hung up the phone and hurried around, getting ready as fast as she could. She was just about to walk out the door when her phone rang, this time she didn’t answer it. Insted she smacked the answering machine to turn it on as she walked out the door.

“Hey, it’s me. I thought you would be home but I guess I was wrong, maybe your still mad at me. Anyway, im going to stop by on my way home from Jeff and Anne’s tonight, I think we need to talk.”

Tina was on her way to her car when she noticed someone was blocking her in. “What the *****?” she said as she threw her arms in the air. “What the ***** am I supposed to do now?” she thought as she just stood and stared the car. She tried to figure out a way to get around it without causing any damage but came up with no solution. She huffed in defete and headed back into the building. Tina was so mad when she gont inside her apartment that she forgot someone was calling when she left. She picked up the phone and dialed.

    Bette: “Hello.”

    Tina: “Hi”

    Bette: “What’s up?”

Tina: “Um I have a problem”

Bette: “Oh yeah, something I could help you with?”

Tina: “Only if you have a tow truck. Someone is blocking me in. I think it’s Mrs. Watson, she’s old so I can’t tow her. I would feel to bad.”

Bette: “Oh, it’s ok. I could come over there.” she suggested

Tina: “Could you? Im sorry about this, I know you have work to do. We could hang out another time if it’s too much trouble”

Bette: “It’s no trouble at all.”

Bette jumped in her car and headed over to Tina’s. As she was parking her car her cell phone started to ring.

Bette: “How do you do it?”

    Alice: “Do what?”

Bette: “Know exaclty when the most inopertune time to call is”

Alice: “Eh, it’s a gift. What are you doing right now?”

Bette: “Right now, im sitting in my car about to go into Tina’s apartment.”

Alice: “On the prowl again I see.”

    Bette: “Something like that.”

Alice: “Well you should grab her and meet me at Milk, it’s 80′s night. I know she may be too young to remember the 80′s but it will be a blast.”

Bette: “Funny. That might be fun, i’ll ask her.”

Alice: “And I’ll see you there.”

Bette got off the phone and made her way to Tina’s door. Eventhough Tina knew Bette was on her way over she still jumped when she heard the knock at the door. Tina jumped up, checked herself out in the mirror and went to open the door.

Tina: “Hi” she said leaning against the door

Bette: “Hey” was all she replied. She couldn’t think of something more attractive to say, somehow she had forgotten exactly how attractive Tina was.

    Tina: “Wanna come in?”

Bette: “I had a better idea”

Tina: “Oh yeah, what’s that?” she said with a look of confusion.

Bette: “Well Alice just called and wants us to meet her at Milk. It’s 80′s night. You interested?”

Tina wanted to spend time alone with Bette but decided that not being alone would probably be the best decision.

    Tina: “Absolutly, sounds like fun.”

Bette: “Great, i’ll drive.” she said winking at Tina

Tina: “Oh now your a comedian.”

Tina grabbed her bag and they headed out to the car. Bette started the car and put on a cd. Tina began to bob her head to the music and started to laugh when she noticed Bette singing along.

I cant disguise the pounding of my heart
    It beats so strong
Its in your eyes what can I say
    They turn me on

Bette heard Tina laughing and winked at her as she continued to sing

Come on and touch the place in me
    Thats calling out your name
We want each other oh so much
Why must we play this game?

Tina found this display to be quite charming, she smiled again and patted Bette on the thigh. Bette felt a chill run up her spine, she wanted to grab Tina’s hand and hold it there but she knew she had to play it cool. Bette pulled into the parking lot and turned off the car. Bette noticed almost all the women standing outside were looking at Tina so she quickly grabbed her hand to hold it. Tina didn’t pull away but she did look at Bette with a raised eyebrow.

Bette: “It’s for your own protection” she said nodding at the women watching them.

Bette and Tina made their way inside, they found Alice sitting at the bar talking to a girl Bette had never seen before. Alice noticed someone standing behind her and turned around.

    Alice: “Hey ladies”

    Bette: “Hi”

    Tina: “Hey”

Alice: “Bette, Tina, this is Dana. Dana, this is Bette, and this sassy little number here is Tina”

Bette: “Nice to meet you. Been hittin the drinks already Al?”

    Alice: “Perhaps.”

For some reason Bette felt like drinking, alot. She continued to order pitcher after pitcher. Tina noticed Bette was drinking alot and decided to take it easy, someone needed to drive home but that didn’t mean she couldn’t at least get a little tipsy, it was only 9:30 after all. Bette was on her way up to the bar and Alice felt it was the perfect opertunity to talk to TIna.

Alice: “So Tina, what’s going on with you? Anything new?”

Tina: “No not really, just living I suppose.”

Alice didn’t feel like beating around the bush, if she got yelled at later she could just blame it on the booze.

Alice: “You know, Bette has really got it bad for you. You should give her a chance”

    Tina: “It’s a complicated situation”

Alice: “I know girl, it will work out in the end, it always does.”

    Tina: “I hope so”

Bette made her way back over to the table with another pitcher of beer and four shots of tequilla”

    Bette: “Look what I found”

    Dana: “You found tequilla?”

Bette: “Yes I did.” she said winking at Alice.

Alice: “Alright ladies lets do this, everybody stand up” she obviously got Bette’s hint. “Bette and I will go first and Tina and Dana”

    Dana: “You’ll go first?”

Alice: “Yeah this isn’t any ordinarly shot. Bette, would you like to demonstrate?”

Bette: “Absolutly. Tina do you mind?”

Tina: “Not at all, demonstrate away” Tina was well aware of what kind of shot was but decided to play along anyway.

Bette slowly brushed Tina’s hair off of her sholder, Tina was wearing a tank top, therefor it made Bette’s job alot easyer. Bette looked at Dana and held up the salt shaker. “first you do this” she said then turned to look Tina in the eye. She slowly leaned down and licked Tina’s neck. This caused Tina to lose her breath, she felt the heat from Bette’s tongue spread over her entire body. Bette leaned back up and smiled then turned to Dana again. “Then the salt. Make sure you’ve got your lemon” she said holding it up. Tina smiled and took the lemon wedge from Bette’s hand and placed it between her teeth. Bette looked up at Tina with surprise. “And now comes the best part.” Bette placed her free hand around the back of Tina’s neck and sensually licked the salt off of her then took the shot. Insted of biting the lemon out of Tina’s mouth she removed it before their lips met. She pressed her lips against Tina’s and began to kiss her.

Alice: “For christ sake” she said as she poured salt on her hand, she took her shot and ploped down in her seat, Dana sat down as well. “They are too ***** precious”

Dana: “I thought you were supposed to suck on the lemon”

Alice: “Yeah, well I guess she wanted to suck on Tina’s face insted”

Tina started to laugh when she heard Alice’s comment and broke the kiss.

    Tina: “Sorry guys” she smiled

Bette sat down and glaired at Alice. Before Bette could say anything Alice jumped up.

Alice: “Come on guys, let’s dance. It is 80′s night after all”

Tina: “Yeah, come on. I love this song” she said grabbing Bette’s hand.

Alice: “Come on Bette, you never could resist Prince”

Tina took Bette’s hand and draped it over her sholder as she sontered out to the middle of the dnace floor. Bette followed smiling all the way. She took a step closer to Tina but she stopped her.

    Tina: “Now it’s my turn”

Tina stepped as close as she could to Bette without touching her and danced around her while singing along

You don’t have to be rich to be my girl
You don’t have to be cool to rule my world
Ain’t no particular sign I’m more compatible with
    I just want your extra time and your . . . . . kiss
Tina turned around a lightly grazed Bette’s lips with her own, just enough to tease her. The women on the dance floor, including Alice and Dana, noticed Tina’s little show.
You got to not talk dirty, baby, if you wanna impress me
You can’t be to flirty, mama, And know how to undress me
I want to be your fantasy, maybe you could be mine
You just leave it all up to me, we could have a good time
At this point Tina was behind Bette, singing the lyrics in ear. As she danced Tina reached around Bette and lightly caressed her sides moving down to her hips.
Alice: “Can you believe that girl is supposed to be strait?” she said leaning towards Dana
Dana: “I guess it must be oposite day, cause that girl is far from strait.”
Bette couldn’t take it anymore, she spun around and grabbed Tina by the waist and pulled her in for a long passionate kiss.
Alice: “look at them, they are all over eachother. we should charge people for this”
Bette: “Let’s get out of here.” she said after finally breaking away.
Tina was so absorbed in Bette that she couldn’t respond so she just nodded.
Bette: “Can you drive? Im still a little tipsy?”
They made their way over to Alice and Dana to say good-bye then quickly headed out to the car. Bette climbed into the passenger seat and Tina started the car. Bette couldn’t take her eyes off of the beautiful blond, she had never felt this way about anyone in her entire life. She didn’t want to admit it yet but she was falling in love, hard. Tina noticed Bette looking at her so she reached over to hold her hand, she inertwined their fingers and rested their hands on Bette’s lap.
Tina: “I like driving your car.”
Bette: ‘I like you driving my car.”
With her free hand Bette played with the cd player.
Tina: “What are you putting on?” she said with a raised eyebrow.
    Bette: ‘Nothing” she said innocently.
Bette found what she was looking for and turned up the volume then leaned back in her seat and continued to watch Tina drive. Soft music started to play and Tina just smiled. She secretly loved when Bette did things like this.
    Baby, baby, baby
    What’s it gonna be
    Baby, baby, baby
Is it him or is it me?
Don’t make me waste my time
Don’t make me lose my mind baby

    Baby, baby, baby
Can’t you stay with me tonight
    Oh baby, baby, baby
Don’t my kisses please you right
You were so hard to find
The beautiful ones, they hurt you everytime
Bette watched Tina’s face turn from happy to serious as the song went on. Tina was paying close attention to the lyrics just as Bette knew she would.
    If I told you baby
That I was in love with you
    Oh baby, baby, baby
    If we got married
    Would that be cool?

    You make me so confused
    The beautiful ones
    You always seem to lose
Tina couldn’t stop the tear that was falling down her cheek, she had only been thinking about her feeling this whole time and not about Bette’s. She abviously knew Bette was interested in her but had no idea how she actually felt. Tina pulled up to her apartment and turned off the engine. She sat for a second staring out the window.
Bette: “Tina? I didn’t mean to upset you.”
Tina: “You didn’t.” she said as she wiped away any remaining tears “are you ok to drive?”
Bette: “Yeah” she said with a confused tone. “Way to go, you blew it. She’s never going to talk to you again” she thought to herself.
Bette didn’t say anything else, she got out of the car and walked around to the other side opening the door for Tina. Tina slowly lifted herself out of the drivers seat and turned to Bette who was looking at the ground. Tina tilted her head down untill she caught Bette’s gaze. Bette didn’t want to look up but she bit her lip and prepared for rejection.
