Man, its amusing to watch Vancouverites deal with flurries and five centimetres of snow on the roads. I know this is probably mean but watching cars driven the way they are quite entertaining. Thank goodness I cant get out. Shane said as she sits back on the couch with her legs up on her coffee table. Tina who is cooking dinner for both of them turned her head towards the TV that is set to the evening news while she still stirring the marinara sauce that is simmering on the stove. On TV, they watched the scene where the cars are clogging up the Granville Street. CTV news at six is broadcasting the priceless sight of card going sort of in the right direction sideways. Then the news followed with the never a dull moment phones ringing off the hook for the Towing companies in the Lower Mainland. (Authors note: no offence to Vancouverites and not to be insensitive to the accidents that happens due to winter weather),

Tina chuckled. Yeah, the snow here is nothing. Snow back in my hometown is worse.

Yeah, which is why they dont drive like people here. Shane added. Well, thats not driving, thats car skating. I wonder if the SFU is open tomorrow.

Does it make a difference? Dont tell me youve decided to go to school with that thing on after all Tina quipped referring to the Shane’s cast on her calf.

Tina went over to the couch with two plates of penne with marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese and handed one plate to Shane. They continued watching the news while eating the famous student dinner.

So, how was your day? Shane asked Tina while still staring the TV.

It was okay. Uneventful. Tina answered while taking more penne into her mouth and watching TV.

What about you? How was your day? When did the doctor say that you could take off that cast on your leg? Tina asked.

Ooh, poor you. Tina slings her left arm over Shanes shoulder and squeezed her. Youll be out of that thing in no time. Next time, dont try to pull any stunts while youre wasted okay Tina smirks

Shane whistled and Ollie that had been sleeping on the corner of the room suddenly perked up and went over to the couch. The light crme two year Retriever Labrador that put her two paws on the couch beside Shane and leaned forward trying to give Shane her affectionate kiss.

Okay girl, I love you too. No dont lick me Ive got enough kisses from you today. Shane said as shes petting Ollie and giving her affectionate rub on Ollies neck – her favourite spot to be rubbed. Feeling that the attention is not on her again, Ollie curled up right beside the couch by Shanes foot.

Did you get any DVDs today? Shane looked at Tina with puppy eyed looks.

No Tina answered nonchalantly.

Shane started poking Tinas right side. Tina is squirming and giggling trying to getaway from Shanes evil poking while balancing her plate, making sure that she doesnt spill anything.

Stop it Shane look, Im eating here, you dont want me to spill this on that beloved couch of yours. Tina scooted to the other end of the couch while Shane kept on pursuing, stretching half of her body continuing to pursue her after putting down her plate on the coffee table.

Okay, okay, you got me. I got several DVDs. Tina finally gave in while standing on the side of the couch now walking over to her bag that she deposited on the dining table earlier to grab the DVDs and bringing it over to the couch.

Yeah. What did you get? Shane smirked.

Goldfish Memory

Uuh what is that about? Sounds interesting

Tina flips the DVD and read the synopsis. Goldfish Memory chronicles the ups and downs of several Irish singles who, like goldfish, seem to have a memory span that’s simply too short to prevent them from repeating the same actions ad nauseam. Lives intertwine when a middle-aged professor (Sean Campion) with a nasty tendency to chase after his pupils breaks up with one of his conquests (Fiona Glascott) in order to repeat the pattern with another student (Fiona O’Shaughnessy). Shunned, Clara (Glascott) goes on to have a ***** affair with a local reporter (Flora Montgomery), who turns out to be more than a little possessive. In an effort to get away from the needy reporter, Clara manages to attract the woman who had stolen the affections of her professor in the first place.

Okay well watch that one.

Tina opened the DVD case and loaded it into the DVD player then sat back on the couch, stretched out her legs on the coffee table and crossed her legs.

Oh, Eric introduced me to Alice today. I also met Bette. Tina nonchalantly said while pressing the MENU button on the DVD remote control, skipping all the advertisements.

Bette? You mean Bette Porter? Shane is intrigued.

I cant remember her last name. Yeah, Porter maybe. Why? Tina is now curious.

Tall girl, around 58, dark brown curly hair, mocha skinned gal? Shane continued, now facing Tina.

Yeah, sounds around right. Why? Whats wrong with her? Shane got Tinas attention.

Nothing. Shes just the one of the hottest chick that works at one of the caf that I hang around at. Shes the goddess of the pool table too. Shane slyly smiled.

You! I thought theres something seriously wrong with her. Tina picked up one of the small cushion pillows beside her and began playfully hitting Shane with it.

Shane giggled and tried to capture Tinas wrists. Do not hit the patient! Okay, okay look, the movie is starting The companys name and music began playing on the background.

Shane finally caught both of Tinas wrists and just held it while Tina is still holding the small cushion. Tina relaxed to Shanes embrace. She just leans her head on Shanes shoulder and stayed that way halfway through the movie until she needed to go to the bathroom. Shes used to Shane being physically affectionate towards her and though she suspect that Shane have feelings for her, she decided not to read into it too much.

Nope Shane is just in a goofy mood tonight and intending to bug Tina as much as she can so she just gripped slightly tighter.

I need to go to the washroom. You wouldnt want me to wet your couch, eh? Tina raised her eyebrows.

Shane sighed and let Tina go. Tina got up and handed the remote to Shane who pressed the paused button. Five minutes later she got out of the bathroom and sits on the end of the couch with legs folded and hugging one of the small pillows. Shane then resumed the movie.

Are you in the mood to get out? Kit called me to come to her gig on Friday. But, (sighed) I guess youre in no condition to go out Tina nonchalantly said, she cant resist to tease Shane a bit.

Nooo I want to get outta here. Ollie can entertain me so much. Besides, I could probably save you from Eric. Shane was looking at Tina with her hands laced in a prayer-like manner with pleading eyes. Ill be good.

A smile is tugging at Tinas lips. Okay, good. I could use a cushion. I am not sure if hes coming or not and I dont feel like going with him.

You can drive my wrangler jeep. Were not bussing it!

Smartass. Shane just throws another pillow at Tina

They had a brief pillow fight before they decided that they should pay attention to the movie.

By this time, Shane had lived with Tina for about a year now in a ground floor suite off Commercial Drive and East 2nd Avenue. They met at the coffee shop just up a few blocks from where they live now – J.J. Bean House of Coffee on the corner of Commercial Drive and East 6th Avenue. Shane works as one of the employees who worked the cash till. Tina hangs around that coffee shop quite often mostly to read or to study sometimes to catch up with her friends that she doesnt see on everyday basis. Overtime, they became friends and when Tinas roommate bailed out on her, Shane also needed a roommate to move in with. So, they decided to get a place together.

Shane isnt usually affectionate towards people but Tinas warmth has drawn out the warm side of hers. She and Tina have developed a platonic relationship. Though she is interested in Tina, for once she decided not to succumb to her desire because to her, Tinas friendship is more important than short-term pleasure.
