Where You Never Thought To Look 3

The gang were sat at the same table at Radar that they’d occupied the previous night. Shane had gone to the bar, and the others all turned to Dana. “What?!” she said smiling. “So how we gonna hook up you and Shane?” Alice asked. “I don’t know I thought you guys were figuring out the master plan” “Well it’s not the most ingenious of our plans…” Bette started. “What?” Dana was suspicious. “You just gotta make the first move” Tina finished Bette’s sentence. “Yeah, Shane totally goes for the confidence thing” Alice added. “Guys, Shane knows I’m not confident” Dana protested. “Trust me, there’s no way she’d be the one to make a move. You have to do it” Bette sat back in her chair. Dana groaned and put her head in her hands. Meanwhile, Shane was lost in her thoughts at the bar. There was something there with Dana. She’d always found her attractive, but Dana had always been off limits so she hadn’t even allowed herself to really think about the possibility. She knew she couldn’t approach Dana in the way she approached other women – Dana would just run a mile. This situation would require Shane to take things slowly and not make a move. It was going to be hard, but she wasn’t going to be able to use her usual confidence. Her thoughts were interrupted by a hand tapping her on the shoulder. “Hey, just wondering if you wanted a hand with the drinks?” Dana smiled shyly at her. “Erm…sure, thanks Dane” Shane mentally regrouped. Dana watched Shane’s hand movements, and as she saw her reaching for the last glass she too reached out so that their hands touched. She held Shane’s gaze for a moment before smiling and letting her pick up the glass. “Better get these over there before our friends die of thirst” Dana said before walking back to the table. Shane just shook her head and smiled. She was just going to wait and see how far Dana was willing to go with this one. When she reached the table she noticed how the others were all grinning, but chose to ignore it. “Come on ladies, down the drinks” Alice ordered. The others obeyed, and Dana stared pointedly at Shane as she downed her drink in one. Making sure Shane was watching her, she took an ice cube and put it in her mouth. She played with it with her tongue, and Shane had to look away to hide her reaction. “Anyone up for dancing?” Shane cleared her throat and stood up. Alice almost stood up until Bette grabbed her arm firmly. Bette, Tina and Alice all shook their heads, and Shane rolled her eyes. “You’re such old women. Dana, you still young enough to dance?” “Sure” Dana got up and started to follow Shane to the dance floor. She turned round with a nervous smile and the others gave her enthusiastic waves. The dance floor was busy, and so Dana and Shane ended up dancing inches away from each other. Dana avoided eye contact with Shane, but could almost feel the heat radiating off her body. Shane was subtly looking Dana up and down, admiring her body. Casually Dana hooked her fingers over Shane’s waistband as they danced. After a few minutes, Shane backed away. “You fancy a shot?” “Sure, why not” They walked to the bar, and Dana stood behind Shane as she bought their shots. She ran her finger gently down Shane’s side, but didn’t hear the soft moan that Shane let out. After they’d downed the shots Shane headed for the bathroom. “Too many drinks” she explained. “I think I’ll go too” Dana followed her. Dana paused momentarily outside the door. She let out slow, deep breaths and tried to prepare herself for what she was about to do.
