Getting in right direction
Shane stopped outside the lather, and peeked in the transparent walls. As she saw Helen standing inside, she felt her pulse going a little faster than usual. “Get a grip, Shane” she said to herself while she walked through the door.
Helen came over to greet her, and she looked more confident this morning than at lunch the day before.
“Hey Shane. I`m really sorry that I left in such a hurry yesterday. I just forgot the time, and I had a couple of errands to do” Helen said a little stressed. Shane smiled sofly to her. “Nevermind, its no problem. Really. But…” Shane wasent shure if she dared to take this step. “…it`s friday, so i wondered if you maby wanted to hang out or something?” Shane stuttered a little.
Helen was quick to answer. “Yeah, I havent got any plans really” Shane looked relieved but nervous at the same time. “Well, then you can come over to my place, and we can go out together. Maby some of my friends will come to” Shane said hopefully.
Helen was sounding enthused and that comforted Shane. “Shure. I`ll call you Shane, and then we`ll find something out. ”
Later that day at work, Alan came over to Helen. “So, whats up with you and Shane?” He looked at Shane who was in deep consentration, doing a client, and then over to Helen who looked extremely uncomfty with the question. “Nothing! What kind of a question is that? Were just get a long very well” Helen whispered. “Well, I can see that something is going on, so don`t tell me its nothing. Do whatever you want, but don`t envolve youre relationship with work.” Alan said serious. Helen didden`t know what to say, so she just stood there all quiet. She was emberrast, and she had so mixed feelings about everything, especially when it came to Shane.

“Hi, Shane.” What are you doing tonight? Shall we go out as the usual?” It was Alice on the phone. “Hey Al, I don`t know if I`m going out today. I`m planning on meeting Helen, but I don`t know what we should do or what to suggest” Shane sounded a little worried. “Oh, Shane. Youre nervous…thats so sweet.” Alice was teasing her. “Al, I mean it. I don`t want to ***** up now, so tell me what to do”. “***** Shane, you really mean it. Youre into this girl aren`t you?”. Shane diddent answered. She knew Alice understood the situasion now. ” I think you should just go out with her. Thats not like to romantic or anything” Alice giggeled. “You don`t want to be to intense and scare her away”…”Umm..maby youre right. Call you later Al.” Then they hang up.

Helen walked to Shanes apartment. She was 15 minutes early. Helen was kind of troubled by Alans words, and the things that been happening to her the last days. “You`ll have to say it now tonight Helen, or it will be too late. This can`t continue” helen whispered to herself.
She rang the doorbell. After a couple of minutes, a shabby girl with a husky voice opened the door. “Hi. You`re visiting Shane?” the girl asked. Helen misunderstood and felt like the best thing to do was to just leave. “No, its ok. Just tell her I`ve been here….will you?” As she turned and started walking, she heard Shane calling her name.”Helen, leaving already?” Helen turned and started to walk back to her. The other girl was going out Shanes door as Helen walked back. Helen looked at Shane with a doubtful look on her face. “So, thats youre girlfriend?” Helen asked when the girl was getting out of sight. Shane started laughing. “Oh, nonono! That`s Chrissy, one of my roomies. Helen laughed looking kind of relived. “Oh, sorry” she said.
“Shane took one step down the stairs to Helen and reached for her hand. “Helen, I don`t know if you want to…” Helen was scared. Scared of her own feelings. it was like an unknown part of her who reached the surface. Helen stepped back, and that made Shane stop talking and wonder what was going on. Why was she holding back?
“Shane, I`ve think you`ve misunderstood my signals.” Helen started and swallowed with a dry mouth. She was focused on Shanes face who looked like a questionmark. “Well the thing is Shane, that I`m not *****.” It became silent. “Sorry Shane, I`m…I`m just not.” Helen was fighting with the words. Shane was now looking very dissapointed and her breath was heavy.
“Helen, I don`t care if you`re ***** or not. I just….I just thought you liked ME”. As Shane spoke those words, the outdoor was sliding more open, and Helen could see into Shanes kitchen. There was a table who had a couple of glasses and a wine, and in the middle of the table there were two candles burning, lightening up the little dark and cosy room.
Shane saw Helens expression when she looked into the apartment. “Shane…You`ve made dinner?” Helen stuttered feeling awful. Shane started walking up the stairs with a sad expression on her face. “Shane, say something”. “I have nothing more to say right now” Shane answered as she turned away.
As Shane was about closing the door behind her, she felt a hand reaching for hers. “Shane wait. I diden`t mean what I said.” Shane turned to Helen, looked at her, and in this moment, Helen became lost in Shanes eyes…
