Getting in right direction- chapter 4


“Please Shane. I`m just so confused. You have no idea how you make me feel, and I`ve never been in this situasion before. You know…with a girl” Helen was shaking while she spoke, and Shane could feel it in her fingers who was holding hers. Shane was totally quiet to let Helen speak. She could feel her heart beat, and the unsecurity of a crush. “So, what will you do about it?” Shane asked, looking down. “My heart says that if I leave tonight without kissing you…I will regret it for the rest of my life” Helen answered, staring at Shane, hoping for a positiv respond.
“If you break my heart, you will have to replace it” Shane joked, but with a serious undertone. Helen smiled at Shane, and then leaned over and hugged her tightly. She felt Shanes warm body close to hers, and she could hear Shanes heart beating fast.
They let go of eachother. “Well, that was nice” Shane giggeled with a I-was-hoping-for-a-little-more expression. Then Helen stroke her fingers trough Shanes hair. “What is it about you Shane?” Helen whispered. “Is it youre hair or youre smile? Maby youre voice…?”. Shane got a little emberrasted. She knew the fact that she could make any girl heart melt, but she never knew why. “I don`t know…Is it anyth….” Shane could not finish the sentense before she saw Helen leaned forward to kiss her. They both closed their eyes as their lips met. Shane took her arms around Helens waist and held her tightly, kissing her passionate but polite. “I`ll better get going” Helen whispered in Shanes ear breathing heavily. “before…..?” Shane teased her. Helen let go of Shanes hands and smiled slyly. “Bye…you stud”. Shane laughed a little and stood there for a while before she closed the door behind her.

As Helen walked home she felt a little dizzy thinking of that she had kissed Shane. She never knew she would fall so fast, but it did not scare her either. “Just a little unexpected” she said to herself. Then she stumbeled home, smiling widely to everyone she met.

Shane called Alice early next day. A tired and grumpy Alice answered the phone. “Who is calling me this urly?”…”Hi Al, it`s me. I guess you drank a lot yesterday, hu? Shane giggeled. “Not funny Shane”. “Should we meet at the planet?” Shane asked enthused. “Yeah, I cant sleep the morning away” Alice answered sarcastic. “What happened between you and that Helen girl?” Alice sounded more awake now. “I`ll tell you if you`ll meet me” Shane said tempting Alice to get out of bed. “Okok, I`ll be there. NOT earlier than 11.00am!” She whined. “See you Al”….

Shane had been sitting at the planet for about half an hour when Alice and Dana showed up. “Hi Dana, Hi Alice!” Shane tried to sound normal, eventough she felt extremely happy. “So, what`s up with the can`t-stop-smiling-expression?” Dana asked. “Shane had a date yeasterday” Alice said while finding a comfty postition in the chair. Dana smiled and raised her eyebrows. “Shane had a date? Did you talk to her before doing her?” she teased and laughed out loud. Shane became grumpy. “You`re just jealous” she said. It was now Alice started laughing. “1-0 to Shane” she said looking over to Dana, who blushed. The fact that Dana was ***** had been clearly to everyone but Dana for a long time, and it was now becoming kind of fustrating that Dana wasen`t being honest with them.

As they sat there drinking cofee, Bette and Tina walked in. They had already been shopping, and they looked very pleased, but tired as they sat down with their shopping bags.
“Where having a party tonight, and you`ll better show up!” was the first thing Tina said when she managed to catch her breath.
“Ofcause we`ll be there” Alice said while she almost puked so you could tell that she`d been drinking the night before. “You don`t have to drink tonight” Shane said and laughed.
Everyone was very interested in the story about Shane and Helen, and it seemed like they all agreed that Helen would be good for Shane and maby get her in right direction, eventhoug no one said it.

“So, you should bring Helen tonight” Bette suggested. “Yeah, I think you`ll like her” Shane said with a proud look on her face. They were all looking at Shane, thinking how cute she was when she was talking about her potential girlfriend.” I have to get home now and prepare myself for tonight” Shane joked and raised from where she was sitting. “You`ll do that Shane” Alice said and they all waved their hands to her while she walked out of the planet.

Shane called Helen and agreed to pick her up before driving to Bette and Tinas place. Shane used 4 hours on finding the right clothes to wear and what she would say.
After a little while, Alice came over. She was only talking about Dana, and how irritating it was that Dana diddent broke up with her lousy boyfriend. “You`re hot for Dana, arent you?” Shane asked. Alice became totally quiet and blushed like never before. “That is not true” She answered. “Well she`s pretty and all, but I would never…” Shane grinned and laughed a little. ” You should go for it” Shane said, now being serious. “No, I`m not interested” Alice said quickly and turned around, pretending to clean up in Shanes clothes at the floor. Shane thought it was for the best to stop talking about it so she changed the subject.

Later, Shane was on her way to Helen driving fast cause she was a little late. While parking, she almost drove into Helens mail box. Helen came out laughing. “Wow, you look amazing” Shane said to her and kissed her cheek. Helen couldent belive how hot Shane looked in a her tight jeans, ofcause a white shirt and those cute worn out converse shoes. “You too” she said, again feeling dizzy from the nearness of Shane.
Shane opened the cardoor for her to, and they drove away listening to Ben Harper-”Brown eyed blues”…
