The Alice and Dana Chronicles
Alice woke to the sound of her phone ringing. She opened her eyes and rubbed the sleep out of them, then glanced at the clock. It read 8:28. ‘Ugh. Finally when I’m able to do something else besides toss and turn, the phone rings. Great.’ She reached over and picked up the reciever.
“Hel-..whoa, *****, dropped the phone.” She struggled to bend over far enough to pick it up without falling flat on her ***** in the floor. She succeeded. “Hello?”
“Hi, Alice? Uhm..you having problems?” the voice at the other end grinned.
“Ugh, Shane. Who died?” Alice yawned.
“Uh, no one did, not that I know of. Why?”
“Well, because that’s the only excuse I’ll ever let you get away with for calling me this early in the morning. Goodnight.”
“Um, Al, it’s eight o’clock in the morning.”
“Yes, I’m aware of that Yoda. So what did you want anyways?”
Shane sighed. “Come down to the Planet. Bette and Tina’s not here yet, and they’re not answering their phone either. I think something’s up.”
‘If you only knew.’ Alice thought. “Okay, first of all, Tina’s here. And I’ll explain about all of that when I get there, I’ll be there in ten.”
She sighed again. “Okay, talk to you then, bye.”
“Bye.”
Alice hung the phone up and stretched, that’s when she remembered her houseguest. ‘Tina, *****! *****, ***** *****!’ She jumped out of bed and ran to the living room where she found a note waiting for her on the table. It read:
‘Alice, thanks for letting me stay here lastnight. I’m at Bette’s, getting my stuff, I didn’t think to get it lastnight. I suppose she’ll be at work. I hope so anyways. Well, I’ll be back later. Love Tina.’
Alice put the note back on the table and sighed. She felt alittle guilty about forgetting about Tina. ‘Damnit Alice.’ Then she remembered she was suppose to be at The Planet in five minutes. She rushed to her bathroom to take a shower.
Meanwhile….
“Danakins! Honey, I’m going to go get fitted for a wedding dress. I’ll be back later. Bye bye.”
Dana rolled over and mumbled a response. It wasn’t until she heard the bedroom door click shut until she sat up, and all her questions came back from early that morning. ‘Alice. I need to call Alice. Ugh, we have to talk.’ She grabbed her phone and dialed the number she knew by heart. She let it ring about five times until she gave up and tried her cell.
“Hello?” She heard the voice she dreamed about on the other end of the line.
“Hey.” ‘*****, way to go Dana, that was smooth. Very smooth.’
“Hey.” Alice said softly.
“Um, we need to talk.” ‘Well, that was better.’ Dana thought. ‘Yeah, right.’
“Yeah.” Alice sighed. “And not just about what happened either, there’s some bigger ***** going on here than you and me right now.”
“Oh..” ‘She said you and me. There’s a ‘you and me’? Oh my God.. Say something Dana, say something.’ “Right.. so..” ‘Once again Dana, very smooth.’ she thought bitterly.
Alice smiled. “Meet me at The Planet in ten, Shane’s gonna be there and we can all talk about what’s going on.”
“All of us? I mean, you, me, and Shane?” Dana asked. ‘I don’t wanna talk about us with Shane. Wait, is there even an ‘us’? Well I guess I’ll find out.’
“No, not about what happened with you and me, but about what happened with Bette and Tina.”
“Bette and Tina? What happened with Bette and Tina? Are they okay? Is it bad? What’s going on?” Dana was concerned now. ‘What could’ve happened with Bette and Tina?’
Alice sighed again. “I’ll explain everything at The Planet. Just get dressed and be there in ten. I gotta go now, I’ll talk to you soon.”
“Yeah, okay. Bye Al.”
“Bye Dane.”
Dana hung the phone up and quickly got in the shower. She was ready to find out what was wrong with her two friends.
