    This Should Be InterestingChapter 19

    Bette, her parents, and Tina were at a restaurant eating lunch. Melvin seemed to interrogate Tina a little bit asking a lot of questions. Tina would look at Bette sometimes looking for some help, but Bette would just look at her and let her know that everything was going to be ok just as long as she answered the questions

    Melvin: So your parents live in L.A. as well?

    Tina: Actually I never met my father, but my mother lives in New Mexico.

    Melvin: So how old are youactually?

    Tina: (Looking at Bette then back to Melvin) Im 27

    Melvin: Wowyoung and successfuljust like my daughter (Looking at Bette with a proud smile)

    Tina: (Finding a way out of the spot light and turning it on Melvin) What about Kit?

    Melvin: She has done well I guess

    Tina: She is doing more than wellwouldnt you say Bette?

    Bette: Oh s***yeahummm daddy? (Swallowing hard) did you know that she just finished a tour a couple of months ago?

    Melvin: I was unaware of that(*famous phrase*)

    Tina: Wowwell she is greatI met her at the Seattle airport right after I met your daughter(Bette lightly tapped her foot on Tinas leg and T looked at her)

    Bette: Ummmwell be right back dadmom will you excuse up for a minute? (Tina just gave them a confused look and went with Bette to the ladies room)

    In the ladies room

    Tina: Whats wrong?

    Bette: Tinayou have to stop talking about Kit

    Tina: Why?

    Bette: Just trust me ok?

    Tina: I dont understand?
    Bette: Tinaif you want my parents to like you, which they are, you have to stop talking about Kit for now ok?Ill tell you all about it later(She kissed her on the cheek)

    Tina: Okbut you promise to tell me later?

    Bette: Yeswe need to get back before they think that we left them

    Tina: Would that be so bad? (With a teasing smile)

    Bette: Actually it would bevery badcome on (Holding Ts hand)

    Back at the table when B and T were gone

    Melvin: Sowhat do you think?

    Mom: Shes nice, but Im still a little hesitant about all this

    Melvin: Its just going to take some time getting used to

    Mom: I know butbut what about children?
