***The Present: Continues where the Last Chapter Left Off***

MJ threw herself into that kiss, drinking in the essence of Aly with every fiber of her being. The kiss deepened as the all too familiar heat enveloped their bodies and blurred their minds. What might have happened didnt as MJ felt the floor crumbled under her feet.

Dried laughter effectively doused the fire that had flared between them. MJ turned and saw Shane bowed over, hand on her knees for support. Her thin body shook with laughter, not of joy but with deep cynicism and pain. Its sounds caused chills to run through her body. Oh god, what have I done.

Shane felt the laughter drained away and she looked up. This is priceless. She cleared her dried throat. Oh you dont have to leave on the account of me.

Aly just brushed pass Shane without saying a word, closing the door behind her.

Shane, oh god, thisthis is not what it looked like.

    What? Two ***** in heat?

No, no. Uhh, that was Alyshe iswas my old girlfriend andand I dont know. Im just very confused right now.

Confused? Why? There is nothing to be confused over. You were with me and now youre back with her. Sounds ***** simple to me. She turned toward the door and made a move to escape, to get away.

It is not that simple. Shane dont go. Please we need to She ran after Shane but she had already disappeared.

    Yo Shane wasnt expecting you?

Hey man, can I come in?

Jay looked at Shane and knew that something was up. Sure, come on in.

Inside, she plopped down on the couch. She closed her eyes tiredly and leaned her head back. Jay let her stayed like that without asking any questions.

She cracked a smile when she felt something cold pressed against her forehead. She reached up and continued to hold the can there. Its coldness was a mild relief against her raging headache.

    MJ and I are over.

So thats what this is all about. What happened?

You know the clich. I walked in on her with another girl.

Did you stick around to talk to her?

What is there to talk about? She was there kissing her ex-girlfriend.

    Her ex? Harsh.

Shane popped the can opened and took a swig. The cold taste of beer washed its way down her throat, soothed and numbed at the same time.

Today just damn sucks you know.

Jay did not say anything, just allowing her to collect her thoughts.

I talked to my mother today. Talked was a little much. More like she came and told me that she was leaving town so dont come and looking for her anymore.

    That was *****.

Shane made a noise in her throat and down the rest of the beer.

I have been fine without her so whatever.

Jay put down his beer and gathered Shane into his arms. After the initial reluctance, she collapsed against him. Broke down and heartbroken, she sobbed her heart out. She clung onto him fiercely. Jay sat there quietly knowing that no words can soothe, hoping that his presence alone could lend her the necessary support. He knew how miserable life could be having lived through it himself.

God what a *****. Shane pulled back and wiped away the rest of her tears. What happened to her old self where she would never let a tear falls. *****, letting people in sucks.

    Well you are one.

    Haha thanks.

Shane stood up and headed toward the door.

    Hey where are you going?

To say that he was worried about her was the least of it. There was a certain recklessness in her eyes that could only mean trouble.

To the Crazy Nannys. Im in the mood for some distraction tonight.

Shane opened the door. Thanks for tonight. Jay nodded his head, hoping for the best.

The night dragged on as she walked down the citys sidewalk. Its dark corners were calling out to her, beckoning her. She has never welcomed and embraced its darkness as she did now. Now that she thought about it, the Crazy Nannys was not really what she was looking for tonight.

She switched direction. Only one place would do.

The unmarked building loomed over her, only one single lamp illuminate the dark alleyway. No one would ever think to come here. This was one of the citys deep and dark secret.

She walked up toward the door and gave it a hard knock. She glanced up to give the security camera a good view of her face. The door opened and Shane stepped inside, engulfed by the darkness within. The door slammed shut, leaving Shane inside. She stood still waiting for what was to come next.

Hello Shane. I knew you would return.

She turned toward the voice and the body that accompanied it. Yeah well I guess you knew me better than I knew myself.

Ivy looked at Shane and smiled to herself. Im going to make a killing out of this girl.

    ***In the future***
I watched the scene below me, wondering if I could have done anything different to change it. What was it for really? Money? Some green pieces of paper and for what? Was this regret that Im feeling now? I guessed some would call it that. But what can I do now really when everything was taken out of my hand. I wanted to touch the bleeding figure, but it was just slightly of reach. I could practically see how the life within was slowly withering away. Hold on I wanted to say, hold on but that too was impossible.
