Breaking silence
As Bette removed her earrings, she looked at Tina through the mirror over the dresser. Tina sat on the edge of their bed, staring at some invisible point in the space in front of her. Bette had been longing to take Tina aside all night and ask her about how she was feeling and what she was thinking, but there hadn’t been an opportunity.
At first, Bette was glad to have asked their friends to stay for dinner. She figured that Tina might need the support of people who knew her and cared about her after the surprising phone call from her mother. But as the evening progressed, Bette came to regret her initial decision. For while her wife seemed to enjoy herself and to engage with ease in the typically lively conversations that flowed among the group all night, Bette could see that Tina was not quite okay. And that she might have benefited from a little less social activity.
“Are you going to get ready for bed?” Bette asked, turning to face Tina.
“Yeah,” Tina said, looking up but not making a move to stand.
Bette walked over to sit down on the edge of the bed. She picked up Tina’s hand, lacing their fingers together.
“Talk to me,” Bette said.
Tina shrugged weakly and shook her head. “What do you want me to say?”
“Tell me what you’re feeling.”
“I’m not sure what I’m feeling.”
Tina met Bette’s glance, and Bette reached forward to gently brush back a lock of hair from Tina’s cheek and tuck it behind her ear.
“Are you…afraid? Anxious? Shocked?”
“All of that. It’s so…much.”
“Are you sorry you got in touch with them?” Bette asked, squeezing Tina’s hand.
“I…um…I don’t know,” Tina finally replied, frowning. “I was almost used to the idea that I wasn’t going to hear from them. You know? And now they want to see us.”
“Why does that worry you? What do you think is going to happen?”
Tina chewed her lower lip, considering. “I think…I think I don’t want us to get our hopes up too fast. And then have things not work out.”
Bette nodded. “So, you don’t want anyone to get disappointed.”

That was simply beautiful…
You capture their love in ways that nobody else can, especially when it comes to the intimacy in their lovemaking. You’ve always had the ability to get these moments just right. Great job. And by the way, glad I’m not the only one with the mac and posting fanfic trouble.
EXCELLENT!!!! Very well written….
And Bette will always be there. Beautiful, ffc! Thank you!!
Beautiful, absolutely beautiful!!
Very beautiful – loving this sweet and caring deserves 1000 stars.
I am kind new to FanFic, and I was referred to you by almost every member I asked regarding “must read” authors. I believe you have removed some of your more popular works from the archives, but I just wanted you to know that this Chapter was really beautiful.
There is nothing quite like needing your partner to be there for you and having him/her actually come through for you. Bette was the perfect mixture of support, love, passion, need, She didn’t try to take over and solve T’s problems right then and there, she just focused on her wife.
Teally lovely stuff. Shows a chapter doesn’t have to be long to pack and emotional whallop!!!
Thanks for sharing your art with us.
Thank-you for showing us the best of Bette once again.
That was so nice. More, please.
unbelievably beautiful. made my heart go pitty pat. as sox said some of your earlier work has now disappeared. how do we get it. thank you

FFC…are you reading these comments? When oh when are you going to publish something? I will even pay cash, so you won’t even have to wait for the check to clear…just get it published!!! When I sit down to write, I think of your writing, and use it as my inspiration. Thank you for every word you share.
You have perfect pitch. I agree with Sea, I too would pay money if you publish.
