    Resolutions Chapter 9

Lara spent the remainder of the day furiously dicing vegetables and barking orders at her staff.  Late in the afternoon, Alex wandered in and observed the unusually tense atmosphere in the kitchen.  Glancing at Julie, Lara’s sous-chef, she asked, “How’s it going?”

Julie grumbled, “Fine, but something is definitely up with your buddy.”

Alex looked quizzically towards Lara who was disappearing into the walk-in cooler.  “She does seem a bit…..”

“Bitchy?”  Julie finished with a look of mild irritation.

“Distracted, was what I was thinking.”  Alex concluded, with a stern glance at the younger woman.  “I’d say she’s normally just about the most even-keeled chef I’ve ever seen, wouldn’t you?”

                Julie nodded, a bit subdued.

“So, maybe she’s got something going on that’s a little personal…and maybe you could cut her a little slack?”  Alex finished.

Julie nodded and scurried off, wondering what in the hell could have gotten into her two bosses.  This job had been a dream until this afternoon, when Lara had suddenly transformed into Evil Incarnate with wicked knife skills.

Meanwhile, Alex followed Lara into the cooler.  “How’s it going, Lar?”  She asked.

Lara jumped and spun around with a frown, “Jesus Christ, Alex!  Are you trying to give me a heart attack?”

Alex pulled back, alarmed at the intensity in Lara’s face.  “Sorry!”

Lara shut her eyes and took a deep breath.  “No– I’m sorry.”  She raked her fingers through her hair and leaned back against one of the shelves.  “I’m a little on edge.  I shouldn’t have yelled like that.”

Alex nodded.  “I spoke with Jonathan.  He told me about your wrestling match with Alice.”

“Oh, god.”  Lara squeezed her eyes shut once again.  “How bad was it?”

Alex let out a soft laugh, “Well, it did sound like it got out of hand at the end.  I understand that Alice punched Jenny just after you left.”

“What??”   Lara’s eyes flew open and she searched Alex’s face to see if her friend was kidding or serious.  “Why?”

“Apparently Jenny has a way of getting under people’s skin.  Alice gave her a nice shiner, from what I understand, but in the process bruised her knuckles pretty badly.”  Alex noted the sudden look of concern in Lara’s eyes.  “Do you want to talk?”

    1. ?!! You’re here, and I can’t believe I missed a post… (which I promptly caught up, and I loved it!) So… It seems a tackle and a black eye weren’t enough to shut Jenny’s yap. Maybe a muzzle? Or maybe Lara will smother her with a pillow… Lara still has to talk to Al, and now I wonder how Sandy’s going to figure into this. I’m really stoked to see you posting again, Gold. Next one when you can, I’ll certainly be reading. Thanks! (and just in case, Happy Christmas/New Year!)

    2. Goldrun, what a happy surprise tonight! Seriously, if weren’t for fripster, I would have never read your stories, beautifully written stories. Btw, if there is ever a chance, please tell fripster, we Danish fanfic readers really miss her story. Back to this update, I am impressed by A’s slugging J. I wouldn’t mind if A did the same back in S4 when she confronted J with the book. And by saying, “I’m eager to spend some quality time with Lara,” she deserved another round. Can’t wait to read all about A & L’s talk. Thank you and looking forward to your next post.

    3. Go Alice!!! Thanks for letting Alice punch Jenny. She deserves it. Realyl good chapter I wonder if Alcie does anythingmore about Jenny. And I am really eager to read what will happen with Alice and Lara. Sorry to say that but Lara is kinda blind at the moment. Let´s hope she doesn´t have an affair with Jenny!!!

    4. what a lovley surprise in this early morning!! great chapter! jenny is one of my faves, but in this story she deserves what al did to her. she knows exactly, what it means to al that she is moving to laras room. and i´m sure she has a plan to bring this situation on the top. i hope she learnd from the story with the vet, that this is not the best plan, she ever had, so that she will help lara and alice at the end ;-) i wish you a peacefull christmas time and a happy new year!naren

    5. i think we all cherish the thought of Alice punching Jenny. Go, Alice! I’m so glad you’re continuing with this story, because, dammit, how can you go wrong with a pairing called Lace? anyway. Will Alice or Lara get to strangle Jenny now? Or will they actually get a proper conversation in? Still a great story, G.

    6. Gold, this story is incredible. You write the two of them so well and I’m totally hooked. It’s weird to think they were just together for 2 episodes, but the fan fic has kept them alive. Anyway, I absolutely loooove Rilo Kiley! Jenny Lewis is the best. So glad to learn you appreciate good music as well :)
