    Lost, part 5

    Previously….

Jodi looked from Bette back to Tina noticing that they never took their eyes off of each other. She had this at one time, but she let it go. Not with Bette, never with Bette, but she had it once before. When she thought about why she had come back with Bette, she realized it was more out of a sense of obligation than anything else. How could she let her leave alone when she had tried so hard to prove herself? Like Tina, she was tired of running.

“You better not break my heart,” she had told Bette after she had given her that sign even though she knew that Bette couldn’t break something she had never offered her.

Bette knew this too. She had tried to force the connection that both her and Jodi knew in the back of their minds was never there. Bette had once thought she wanted sex without emotional entanglements, but she realized that sex without emotional entanglements made her feel dead. Made her feel nothing, and she wanted to feel again.

“Actually, I was just getting ready to head out,” said Jodi as she got up from her chair. “Tina, you better not break her heart. You can’t keep running or you’ll run your whole life,” she said as she gave Tina a compassionate smile. She knew that this would be difficult for them, but not impossible.

    “I won’t,” promised Tina.

“I’ll let myself out. Call me later, ok?” And with that she was gone.

Yes, Tina knew exactly what Bette saw in her.

    ————————————————————————————————————————————–

“I don’t understand,” said Tina as she looked at Bette.

“If you wouldn’t have left, you would have,” said Bette as she reached over and placed her hand on top of Tina’s. “I missed this. Just us. Being here.”

Tina knew what Bette was trying to say. She missed it as well.

“We have to stop doing this. Running from each other, shutting each other out, blaming ourselves; we have to stop living in the past and all the mistakes we made and start living for today. No day but today.”

“Baby,” said Tina with a grin. She couldn’t help it. She knew everything Bette was saying was true, but it had to be said. “There’s only us, there’s only this. Forget regret, or life is yours to miss. No day but today.”

    1. So happy that Bette and Jodi had the intelligence to realize that they DID NOT belong together and that there is only one person for Bette, the other half of her, Tina. Wondering what Jodi said to them. So happy to see them finally together. It will not be easy but, anthing worth having or doing is not always easy, so very rewarding, yes, but never easy. Can hardly wait for the next chapter. PPS

    2. I happy to read that Bette and Tina are taking time to talk and that jodi left without a huge fight taking place. I am intriqued about the letters that jodi left for both Bette and Tina.
