“(Previously) “This totally makes sense,” Shane reached for another beer. “If you are right about this, then Clarice first went to the future in 1859 and ended up in 1979. She met Tina’s grandmother and probably figured out that they were related to Daniel Kennard.”

“Yep and then she made another trip in 1875 and found out that the family moved to North Carolina…wasn’t there a California newspaper in the chest?”

“There were just a few left in readable conditions. The rest were moldy and ruined. I remember one local newspaper dated just a week before my 13^th birthday and I think there was another one…” Tina tried to remember, closing her eyes and visualizing what they saw in Maxine’s chest.

Bette came to her rescue. “I think it was LA Daily News…dated July 1979.”

Alice looked at her with wide eyes, “Oh my God, I’m actually right this time…really, really right. Something was very significant about that issue or Grandma Kennard wouldn’t keep it in the chest.”

“What are you suggesting, Alice?”

“One thing for sure…Clarice was in California in July 1979. She somehow met the Kennard family and made the connection,” Alice finished her beer in one big swallow and announced. “I think we should take a break and meet at Tina and Bette’s house tomorrow. I need to find out what was in that LA Daily News issue.”

“What do you think Alice will find?” Bette asked curiously while they were having breakfast the next morning.

Tina poured more coffee and sat down at the table, “Something exciting, I’m sure, and then she will undoubtedly incorporate it into a great story, using her wild imagination.”

“She’s been pretty amazing so far. Everything she brought up last night was based on known facts and it sounded very interesting.”

“Yes, you are right. Alice can be very insightful when she wants to. I actually can’t wait to see what she will find out about this newspaper.”
