    Shopping for books, and a little surprise.

    “Mom?”

    Tina kept her eyes on the road as she tilted her head attentively, responding to her daughter’s voice. “Yes?”

    “Do you guys have a date tonight or something?”

    Bette smiled at Tina from the passenger seat, then tossed a playful smile over her shoulder, too. Angelica was such a curious child. “What makes you say that?”

    “Aside from you being here?”

    Instinctively, Bette let out another chuckle, “You know I love spending time with you both.”

    “No, but you’re both all fancy and everything, and you know … it’s your birthday soon, right Bette?”

    “Angelica!” Bette gasped, nearly pivoting her entire body just as the vehicle came to a stop at a traffic light.

    Tina arched one brow as she just stared in surprise at Bette, who was still playfully glaring at Angelica.

    “What?” the little girl asked, attempting to play the innocent party.

    “How did you know that?!”

    Tina scoffed, “Is that true?!”

    “Mom, the light turned green.”

    The car started on its way again as Tina shook her head – as Bette pursed her lips. “How? … How did you know that?”

    “Yesterday when we all stopped by your house, when Mom was in the bathroom, you played the messages from your answering machine. Your friend … Shane I think? She mentioned it in the message.”

    Bette was shocked. “You’ve gotta be kidding me …”

    “No, she said it all. What – did you think I couldn’t hear just because I’m a kid?”

    Leaning her head back on the seat, Bette was just trying to ignore the grin left on Tina’s face. She could see it from the corner of her eye.

    “Nobody get ANY ideas. I hate my birthday.”

    “Nobody hates their birthday,” Angelica insisted, giggling at the idea. “It’s a celebration of your existence!”

    “Hooray. Now can we all just forget about it?”

    Tina chuckled, shaking her head as they neared the bookshop. They’d all decided to go shopping together.
    Angelica was hopeful. “Don’t be mad. I bet Mom’s happy it’s your birthday.”

    Bette rolled her eyes and let her head down on the dashboard. “Wonderful.”

    Once they were in the bookshop, however, there was no place to hide her face, so she quickly found a quiet area, and motioned over to it so she could get away for a while. She hadn’t intended on Tina figuring out it was her birthday – never mind Angelica. She grumbled all the way over to her little corner.

WOW Bette in this story no ceases to amaze me, especially because of her past.Now she is the first to brings the issue of living together!Mmm on the one hand i think she doesn’t realize what THAT really means,is a BIG step in a relationship and on the other hand i think is something that Bette unconsciously desire or waited her whole life.I loved it how they convinced Bette to celebrates her birthday ha!GR amazing as always! PERFECT writing and i really can’t wait for Bette’s birthday PPVS PPVS PPVS!!!

It’s so cute and sweet how the pull of being one family entity made them so unsure yet it is actually something that they’ve been wanting!
