The evil lies dormant, waiting to be awakened.
Brenna Taylor relocates to Arizona to nurse her grief and takes possession of a decrepit century-old home sitting among two hundred acres of dead citrus trees. But she unknowingly rouses an evil and stirs the darkness inside herself, a curse she’s carried since childhood. With the help of Alejandra Santana, the charismatic contractor to whom she is drawn, Brenna uncovers the violent history of the land she’s inherited.
As the tormented spirits of massacred migrant workers call out for revenge, the malevolent force that imprisons their souls begins to lure Brenna into its hell. But Alex’s love may not be enough to stand between Brenna and death.

Thanks, Jacky and to all the readers who’ve supported me through the years. I write for all of you and hope my stories heal and inspire you as so many of the stories I’ve read here have done for me!

I really enjoy your stories. My favorite is “the eternal rocks beneath”, I am on my third read.

I ordered By the Dark of Her Eyes, can’t wait to get it. I order Hard Cover. Keep up your great writing. Selma

Thank you for ordering a copy! I can’t wait to hear what you think of it. And, yes, Eternal Rocks is a great story. I hope someday to bring that to print as well.

Excellent story, a must read!!!

Thank you! I can’t believe how fast you read it! New record, I think. I’m glad you liked it and thanks for your support and encouragement.

Wonderful story! Congratulations on your first published novel. I was curious how your idea of “The Groves” would work with different characters. Brilliant! It’s so much more, like a complete new story.
I read the (e)book last week while being away on a seminar and was totally captivated by it.
Thanks to nights alone in a hotel room and two long train rides I manage to read it in three days. I enjoyed first to last page, with a bit more suspense, more drama than your original. The character of Marta is a great addition to the story.
BenMac, I take my hat off to you and your brilliant novel.
It’s really a must read!
BenMac says
Thanks for reading! Yes, I thought Marta really helped balance out the “twin” motif throughout the story. I’m glad you enjoyed it.

I received mine today. Very excited.
BenMac says
Yeah! Let me know what you think once you finish it. Thanks for reading!

I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE A PAPER BACK COPY OF “the eternal rocks beneath”.
BenMac says
Me too! I’ll be seeing what I can do with it. Remember it’s really long, like 400K words, so I’ll have to get creative to see how to make that happen, but I think it would be a great epic of lesbian romance.
selma sexton says
I agree. Whenever it comes out I’ll get it, probably 2.
I have not started “By the Dark of Her Eyes” yet but as soon as I do and finish it I will let you know.
I think you are a really good writer.
Selma

Congratulations BenMac!! I was so happy to hear you had published one of your stories! :-) I’ve just bought it, now I have to get up enough courage to read it. I’m afraid I don’t do well with scary stories, but I will read it just because YOU are the writer. :-)
Again, congratulations, and keep on writing!!
BenMac says
Thank you, thank you! That’s very kind of you to say Seahurst!
Don’t worry, it’s not that scary!

BenMac, I pre-ordered ‘By the Dark of her Eyes’ as an e-book but my life has been such chaos of late that I never seemed to get round to reading it in that format.
So, last week I purchased the paperback version and once it arrived I could not put it down. I enjoyed ‘The Groves’ and read it more that once but I’m sure I enjoyed this book even more.
Well Done my friend, you are a great writer and a superb storyteller.
How about a book on the ‘H’ stories? Would still like a Sequel to those!
Perhaps Bette’s 2nd Grade Crush as a book? Now that’s an enticing thought.
Well Done again and please keep writing.
BenMac says
Thank you so much, Sassy!
You’ve been such a loyal reader and have supplied me with some great insight through the years. I appreciate you reading the book, and I’m glad you enjoyed it.
H+ really does need a sequel, and 2nd Grade has a great backstory I need to write. Both of those ideas are still percolating in the back of my mind, no worries!

Hi BM,
Sorry not to have responded to your reply earlier but, again, life has intervened.
I have friends in the Manchester area and don’t live too far from there. Additionally, the age of those taken from us with this atrocity has been shocking and hard to deal with.
On a lighter note I also managed to visit Chelsea Flower Show this year, first time in about 30 years I think, and that was great despite the unusual sight, here in the UK, of armed Police and enhanced security.
When you are a full time Carer it is nice when Respite can be arranged and a break taken if only for a few days but I find that the return then is even more difficult.
I’m glad you still have ideas percolating and look forward to reading the end result when they have come to the front of your mind and ‘brewed’
Keep writing, my friend, I love to read your stories. SG.

I googled up the Chelsea Flower Show and viewed the images…wow! I bet that was nourishing for the soul even if it was for such a short while.
Okay, off to keep brewing! haha! :)
SassyGran says
How’s the brewing going ?
I’ve got another respite and been down to St Ives in Cornwall for a few wondrous days. Great place – Google it!
I’m now off to Menorca with the family to soak up the sun ready to deal with the UK Winter.
Hope to see a result from your brewing soon my friend, keep well and healthy.

Damn, Sassy, sorry I missed this. I think my notifications for messages isn’t working. I just logged on today and found a bunch.
Hey, getting ready to post a new story. Hope you like!
xoxo

Glad to see a reply from you when I logged in to comment on the new story which I will still do.
Winter has been difficult. I lost two friends in one week in November, both I had known in excess of 35 years and one been close to especially when dealing with my Breast Cancer in 2002. I lost her to Bowel Cancer.
December and January didn’t get much better as the situation at home in my Carer Role gets more difficult.
I am now working for Respite in April when I am going to Milan to see Laurel Holloman’s Exhibition with Susi Kramer.
Anyway you be sure that reading one of your great stories of my two favourite characters is a delight to me and I look forward to regular posts, please!
Thanks for continuing to write and post.
