    Nobis Pacem Chapter 1

I turned the knob of the door to her room and pushed in as quietly as I could.

She was lying on the left side of the bed, on her side, facing the right.

I didn’t know how she preferred to sleep. In her nighties? Pajamas? Long t-shirt? I smiled to myself in the darkness. I’d packed an overnight bag with various articles of clothing. Of all the things we’d talked about over this whole time as we’d steadily gotten to know more about each other, this was one of those things that had never come up.

I decided to strip completely, folded my clothes, and laid them on the small bench at the foot of her bed.

I slipped in between the sheets as unobtrusively as I could, making sure I didn’t jostle the bed too much. In the nude. She slept in the nude, I thought happily.

She’d rolled over to her back momentarily, and I took the opportunity to slip my arm next to her neck, so that if she’d rolled back to her side, facing me, she’d be sleeping on my arm, and I could cradle her more easily.

I watched her in the moonlight. She’s just the most exquisitely beautiful creature I have ever seen.

After about twenty, excruciating minutes, at least according to the clock on her side table that patiently blinked out the time, she finally rolled over to her side again.

As her neck gently rolled over my arm I slid it further in, until she came to a stop just beyond my elbow, so I could comfortably hold her in an embrace.

I didn’t want to wake her but I couldn’t resist kissing her hair, and running the tips of my fingers over her mesmerizing curves, reveling in the unimaginable softness of her silken skin.

Didn’t mean to wake her, but she woke, of course.

“Thinking we’ll get lucky tonight?” she asked, voice thickened by sleep, as she kissed the base of my neck, licked at the pulse point beating furiously there, and took a deep breath. “You smell wonderful,” she added. “And you’re trembling, baby.” Mmmm… I was growing wet already?

“Lucky tonight, tomorrow morning,” I answered hoarsely, “then pause to see your doctor, then tomorrow afternoon, tomorrow night, Sunday morning, then meet some people for brunch, and then Sunday afternoon, Sunday night –“

      • Here in spirit. But this is about a few special L words that play out in a couple’s life in another part of town. In the fringes of the world of the series I’ve been writing; but different. Hope you like it.

    1. Will try this again. Left a message about 4:00 this morning and something happened, it’s not posted. My message was to thank you for posting such a beautiful love story. And that I hope this story will be continued we would like to know what happens to Aerin in the future. Thanks for sharing.

    2. Dainty, Hellbent, and new friends: thanks for the comments. Honestly: was tough to pull this together, but it was worth it. Am v glad you liked it. Ok. I hear you. It may take a while for an update on her story, but it will be coming.

      • Well this was a pleasant surprise. I am always seeking an episode from your creativity. So much, I had to buy a smaller electronic device so that I might read your input on the go. Now, for me buying another electronic anything is saying a lot. I am one of the “dial phone” “get up and change the channel” “do not Text me and expect an answer” old school DIE HARD. But, your writing genius persuaded me to become a mobile reader at my neighborhood “coffee house.” Please continue to write

    3. Beautiful story. I could feel Aerin’s struggle. I would love to read about the 18 months in between their first time and Chris’ final moments. I sure it would be moving.
