Moonlit, Episode 2: Daylight

So, the question she had to ask herself was: How could Dominique Destine, who her family called The Demon, really be the enemy of all humanity, if she’d fallen in love with a human? How could someone who treated her like a friend and laughed at her jokes and trusted her, be someone she was supposed to kill? …True, Dominique had been the one who’d killed her father when she was a young girl, she was still all but sure that was true, but… what if it had actually been self defense? After all, if her family had been hunting her, trying to kill her for she wasn’t even sure how long, wasn’t Dominique justified in defending herself? Wasn’t she justified being angry with Jason, if, as Robyn suspected from her reaction to him and her words to her afterward, Dominique somehow suspected Jason to be a hunter?
What if she had been wrong? What if she and her brothers, her entire family, were really the villains in all of this, instead of the righteous and noble heroes she’d been told they were growing up? What then?
No, today had made it more clear than ever before: She had to know, finally know, one way or the other, was she on the right side of this? Was Dominique Destine really her enemy, or was her family’s vendetta all a lie?
It was with these thoughts in her mind that she made her decision: She’d go into her living room, turn on the TV, watch a movie, relax, and leave her problems for the morning. Cowardly? Maybe a little, but it wasn’t like standing in her kitchen and brooding about it was going to actually do anything, now was it? Other than maybe ruin her chances of having a nice peaceful sleep that night.
When she turned on the light in her living room though, her eyes widened a little in surprise and she knew that her plans of watching a movie had just gotten postponed. ”God playing the bagpipes in a kilt, John. Were you really just sitting there in the dark waiting for me? Because I think one of us has lost their senses, and I have a suspicion it’s you.” She told him reproachfully. ”Can I get you something to drink, or have you already made yourself to home while I was away?” She asked, her Scottish accent beginning to show through, now that she was talking with family. Truthfully, he’d probably simply been being over cautious, not wanting there to be a light on in her apartment when she was away, lest it be observed (not that Robyn thought that very likely).
