In the darkness, there is you…

A third pair of trousers landed on the bed with a resounding thud, they joined the pile of shirts that Sam had already tried on, and she was still no closer to being able to decide what to wear. With a sigh she slowly started to put the clothes back on their hangers and back into the wardrobe.

“if I start again, from the beginning I might find something I actually want to wear.” She thought.

The ipod dock that she’d long ago forgotten about, a gift from her sister that she never seemed to use, came uncovered as she rescued on of her shirts that had somehow landed on her desk. Looking at it for a moment she remembered how excited her sister had been when she had given it to her last Christmas, Kelly knew that she loved her ipod, and thought that the dock would fit brilliantly into her life. Since it had been unpacked it had been used once, a New Year playlist as she got ready to go to a non-descript Police party that she had left long before the gongs had echoed around the room. Digging into her bag that she’d swung across the back of a chair she found her little red ipod, scratched and loved with its little note etched across the back “dance freely by yourself”.

With the ipod plugged in and on shuffle she slowly turned to face her bed, now with just one pair of trousers and a shirt left to put away. Cocking her head to one side she gave the outfit another look, the shirt would actually work really well with those trousers she thought, and smiled to herself, remembering a fitted black jacket she had which would flatter the outfit perfectly.

With her head buried in the wardrobe trying to settle all the clothes back to where they should be, and find the jacket at the same time, Sam felt her pocket begin to vibrate. Panicked that it might be Cat calling to cancel their date, it had been the only thing getting her through her paperwork today at work; she pulled her phone out of her pocket and spotted a name she rarely saw flash across the screen. KELLY. calling. KELLY. calling.
