In the darkness, there is you…

“Kel, hi” Sam finally answered her phone, pulling the door open a little wider to her wardrobe so that she didn’t need to quite dive into it.

“Hi Sis, long time no speak, How’s Glasgow?” Kelly’s voice sounded distant on the phone but bright and more cheerful than it had last time they spoke.

“Good, thanks Kel, where are you these days?” Sam enquired.

“On the other side of the world Sam, where I’ve been for quite a while” Kelly laughed.

“I’m using my ipod dock you know, the one you got me last Christmas, it’s funny that you called” Sam said.

“Yeah, I thought it was about time I had a chat with my big sister, its been a while, I knew that present would be awesome for you, I bet you totally use it all the time” Kelly rushed.

“It’s good, and it’s been too long, where are you now then?” Sam’s head disappeared into the wardrobe to settle the few shirts that seems to not want to hang next to each other.

Having got the shirts to settle Sam sat down on the edge of the bed and slipped off her shoes, unzipping her jeans she shuffled out of them and put her feet into the legs of her trousers for the evening. As she only had one hand free she had to sit there, trousers around her ankles until it was ok to sign off from her chat with Kelly and pull them up properly.

“Japan actually, I managed to get my phone to work out here, so I thought I would give you a call, I just flew in from Kuala Lumpar, long ass flight that was, its really difficult to get from there to here you know, on a shoestring anyway… but we went to…” Kelly carried on, Sam caught the odd word but she listened only half-heartedly, she was used to these big catch up calls about where her sister had been.

Her phone beeped, interrupting her sister’s diatribe about her adventures, risking not hearing the next part of her sister’s story Sam looked at her phone, and saw Cat’s name emblazoned across the screen. Tapping the ‘loudspeaker’ button of her phone she listened for a moment to ensure that her sister was still none the wiser that she wasn’t listening, and then opened the text message.
