“So what do you think I should do Sammy?” Kelly had trailed off her conversation and Sam hadn’t realised quite how long she had been starring at the two kisses at the end of the text message and imagining running gentle kisses down Cat’s neck.

“What?” Sam suddenly jumped, nearly dropping her phone. Un-clicking then ‘loudspeaker’ setting she rested her phone against her shoulder and reached into the wardrobe to retrieve the jacket.

“What are you doing Sam? Were you even listening to me at all?” Kelly accused.

“Yes, of course I was, you talked about Japan, and maybe coming home, but I’ve heard a lot of this before Kel,” Sam tried to explain.

“I was actually wondering whether I should go back to university, you know, make something of myself, we all can’t be a DS Murray you know.” Sam could hear the note of accusation in her sister’s voice.

“Are we back on this again? No-one expects you to be a police woman, we’re not all meant to follow in footsteps you know, Mum would really like to see you though you know.” Sam let her voice drop a little, trying not to get agitated.

“I know Sammy, it’s just too easy to stay away, I miss you though.” her voice broke a little as she spoke.

“I know Kel, but there is only so much we’ll all take, and we miss you too, but you’re on the other side of the world, I can’t come out there…” Sam trailed off.

“yeah, I know…” Kelly didn’t even try and argue.

“Look Kel, I hate to be rude, but I’ve got to be somewhere in 25 minutes and I can’t really put this shirt on with one hand.” Sam looked at her watch.

“Does the infamous DS Murray have a date? Who is she? Is she wonderful?” Kelly’s voice brightened.

“Yes, to all of the above questions, she’s beautiful, and called Cat, and if I’m late she will murder me. So I have to go, and Kel, ring me more ok?” Sam smiled, letting the image of Cat fill her mind.

“Yeah, I will Sammy, and keep her, if she does that to your voice, she obviously makes you happy, don’t let anyone take her. I’ll ring you in the week, or something. Love you sis.” Kelly signed off.
