After Rose’s encounter with Brittany in the locker-room, she wanted to do nothing but be with Claire. She called her and asked if she could come over and make her feel better. ”Of course! I’ll be over right away!” Claire responded enthusiastically.

About 15 minutes later, Claire knocks on the door, and when Rose’s dad opens it, she asks where Rose is. ”She’s up in her room. I don’t know what’s wrong, but she just said she had a rough day and told me to back off a little bit. You’re allowed to go right on up to see her, though. She’ll be so happy to see you!” Claire smiles and replies, ”Thanks, Mr. Miller. DAMN IT! I mean Nathan!” They both chuckle, and Claire goes up to Rose’s room.

Claire opens the door to find Rose crying on her bed with her face in a pillow. ”Rose! What’s wrong?” Claire began to get so worried. Rose looked up to her and embraced her in a hug. ”I hate Brittany, and I swear she is trying to ruin my life!” Rose says while sobbing. ”When I went to PE, I was sitting on the bench in the locker room on my phone. Brittany came up to me and told me to get out because she said it was unfair to have me ’watch the girls get changed’. Then, she pushed me off of the bench and kicked me in the stomach. I grabbed my stuff and came running home, and I don’t ever wanna go back!”

Claire grabbed Rose’s hand and looked her in the eyes saying, ”Rose, she’s pathetic. Do not listen to a word she says. I know it will be hard, but I need you to promise to stay strong.” At first, Rose shook her head and started to cry again. Suddenly, Claire pulled Rose towards her and kissed her. ”Rose, you have to promise me. Okay? I love you, and I do not want to see you go through this.”

Rose looked into Claire’s eyes, and whispered to her, ”I promise.” Claire smiled widely and pulled Rose into another kiss. As they were kissing, fireworks went off in Rose’s head. She started to envision their first kiss in the movie theater, and when Rose gave her the shirt her dad made, and she then saw them dancing and kissing. Then she suddenly blurted out, ”Claire I love you!”

A moment of silence occurred, and then Claire started to cry. ”Good, because I love you too, Rose.” They both then held each others hands and kissed again. Things started to happen faster, and next thing Rose knew Claire laid her down on the bed and started kissing her neck. Not more than 10 seconds later, Nathan comes walking in the door with two glasses of tea for the girls, and when he sees what they’re doing he drops them and is in shock.

”Dad, I can explain everything. It’s not as bad as it looked.” Rose stuttered out, almost upset that her dad interrupted them. ”Well, if you want to explain, we all need to go downstairs and have a meeting about this.” Claire looked at Rose and mouthed ”I’m so sorry.” Then, they all left Rose’s room and went downstairs.
