    Ashley threw her book across the room in anger and wondered what the hell she was going to do for the rest of the summer. She thought briefly about descending on her fathers recording company and hanging there, only he was away on tour and she’d feel weird hanging around if he wasn’t there. She’d planned on spending the summer with Spencer.

     

    ‘That’s what happens when you make plans involving other people Davies, they change’ the voice in her head dryly pointed out.

     

    And normally Aiden would be her second choice, but he WAS spending the summer with Spencer and that didn’t make her any happier. Two more months of this was almost certainly the definition of pure hell.

     

    ‘Yes, I’m sure they’ll change the dictionary just for you’

     

    The party had pissed of Ashley majorly. The day at the beach had only served to make her seethe with anger. And now she was forced to pretend to be ok around Aiden. Spencer had been avoiding her, which made life easier. She at least got to spend some time with her best friend alone. It would probably be easier if Aiden talked about something other than the blonde though. Ashley occasionally had the urge to grab him by the shoulders and scream “I fucked her. Three times. Stop kidding yourself.”

     

    But it wasn’t Aiden’s fault. It wasn’t even Ashley’s fault. It was Spencer’s fault. She was making the brunette lie. She was lying to Aiden, and to everyone.

     

    ‘But most of all to herself. You have to feel a bit sorry for her.’ No, no she didn’t. Maybe if she wasn’t hurting so much she’d feel sorry for Spencer but selfish Ashley was winning the cup today.

     

    Growling, Ashley decided now was a good time to leave the house. Grabbing her bag she was half way down the stairs when the doorbell rang.

     

    Jesus, why did that always happen? If it was Aiden with Spencer in tow she wasn’t leaving with them. No way, no how.

     

    It wasn’t Aiden. It was just Spencer.

     

    “Go away,” Ashley said. She surprised herself. She thought she’d be a lot angrier, or at least more passionate. Instead she just said it flatly and a little sadly. She tried to close the door, but Spencer got her foot inside.

I also love how there’s always a redhead at hand to save the day/ruin it all in Spashley stories. Whenever I read about these redheads, though, I always think about the lights we use in shoots (called redheads, funnily enough), so I imagine this big light wandering around in a gay club, looking to pick up a girl.
