A new day is dawning
Bette stood for a moment as she exited her apartment. She watched as the world scurried before her… Yellow cabs flew down the busy streets, ignoring the million people that were bustling on the sidewalks. She felt so blessed to have a job that didn’t call for a robotic way of life. Being the owner of the finest art gallery in New York City was a prestigious and honorable title that she gladly carried around with her.
Entering Central Park, Bette made her way up the winding path as she listened to Amy Winehouse’s eclectic voice ring in her ears.
“Aaah” Bette let out in pain as the arctic air began to seize her lungs. The heated air from her lungs struggled to pass through the ice block that her chest had now become. Placing her hand on her chest, she smiled as she took in the memorial plaque that lay before her. Red roses outlined the peacefulness of the sign that was inspired by the great John Lennon.
“Imagine”.
She marveled that this one word could encompass so many emotions…so many different meanings to the world at large. Regaining her strength, Bette walked to the water fountain to freshen her dry mouth. Taking a sip of water, Bette jolted as she felt her soul shift slightly. A warm feeling swept through her body as she cast her gaze over her shoulder in search of the manifestation for her unannounced feelings. Bette’s eyes softened as her gaze fell upon the blonde woman sitting on the wooden bench. A frowned swept over Bette’s face as she looked on at the damaged woman. She looked so lost, so torn…it made her wince as she felt her pain. Snapping out of her trance, Bette continued along with her jog, fighting the sting of the frosty air.
Bette came round the paved loop as she struggled to stop thinking about the woman on the bench. There was something so luminous about the stranger…no matter how hard she tried to concentrate…the blonde would pop back into her thoughts. But the hurt and sorrow that flowed through her body frightened Bette in a way she had never felt. Without thinking, she cut across the path heading back to the Strawberry Fields in search of the mysterious woman.
