    Against Their Own Power

     CHAPTER 1: Vision

I stared into his gold eyes, “I’m glad you stayed home with me.”

Everyone else went hunting for the week. It was just Jazz and me.

He smiled, “I can only be away from you for so long.”

I slid myself closer to him. His pale arms wound around my small figure. I put my finger to his lips.

“What are we going to do for the next couple of days?”

Suddenly, I felt a longing inside myself. Jasper leaned in and whispered, “Catch me if you can.”

After he stood, he smiled evilly and took off out into the darkness. I chased right behind him. I searched the future to see where he would go.

I caught up and, as he rounded a corner, I tackled him to the ground. He laughed when he fell with me.

“Did I make that too easy for you, Alice?”

“Nope, I like it that way.”

I rested my head on his chest. I felt his finger under my chin, so I looked at his snowy white face. His lips met mine. Without breaking the kiss, he carried me to the house.

“Time for school,” I groaned, “Have I mentioned that I hate it?”

“Maybe once or twice,” Jazz answered.

I lifted myself off him and walked over to my Texas-sized closet. I decided on black leggings and a casual gray dress. I turned to see him in dark washed jeans and a white button-down shirt.

“You look gorgeous, as you always are,” Jasper said in his deep but soft voice.

I smiled at him and wrapped my arm around his waist.

“I wonder what everyone will think when it’s just you and me,” I whispered.

“Yeah, we’ve never done just us; there’s always someone else as well.”

Lunch time was a break, at the very least.

“Hi, Bella!” I yelled as soon as I saw her walk into the cafeteria.

“Hi, Alice,” she said. I hugged her. “Where’s Edward?”

“He’s out hunting with the others for the week; it’s just Jasper and me.”

“Oh,” she responded, sounding sadden about Edward not being here.

“How would you like to come shopping with me?” I asked.

“Sure, Alice, if it makes you happy.”

    “Yay,” I squealed.

I danced back over to Jasper.

    “You’re coming, too,” I declared.
