As the EMTs got Ashley on the backboard and into the ambulance, I could feel my heart breaking inside of my chest. Here I was standing and watching the love of my life being taken in an ambulance and not by her side. Then I heard that kind voice again ask me, Hey you can ride in here with me and your friend if you want to, just hold on to the bar on the ceiling. She was really a sweet woman; I could sense it in her voice and mannerisms but especially by the tone of her voice. It was a little raspy but very comforting. I lifted myself up into the bus and sat next to Ashley and without hesitation I placed her hand in mine and answered, Thank you I really wanted to …..be here with her. As I felt the need to express my love for Ashley I knew that this was neither the time nor place to do so.

                We pulled up to the ER bay and I looked out at the sign which read, County General Hospital, just as we pulled in, the EMT was able to stabilize Ashley. She got out and the other EMT took the stretcher inside. I walked right behind them; they were really trying to save Ashley. I stood in the waiting room while they wheeled her back, she was covered in blood and I just knew that she would be alright, she just had to. When she went to recovery, I decided that I would tell her how I really felt because life was too short not to be happy and with the one you love.

                The nice woman was not with her partner when he came out after they wheeled Ashley back, I always thought that they just dropped and went. I must have had a sad expression on my face because he came over and talked to me.

                Hey, look your friend will be okay I just know it. Abby is going to stay with her and she is one of the best doctors that County General has. You have nothing to fear young lady. The dark haired man with dark eyes extended his hand to shake mine as to introduce himself. My name is Tony, Tony Gates and that was Dr Abby Lockhart. I shook his hand and told him Spencer Carlin, thank you for getting my gir…friend here so fast. Oh no, I was about to say girlfriend however I guess it doesn’t really matter right now.

                I sat for what seemed like hours and then my cell phone rang, it was Aunt Rose she was worried about us. She had heard about the accident on the news and became concerned. I explained what had happened and as I was crying she kept trying to comfort me. After I calmed down a little and we got off the phone, I sat there thinking of Ashley and wanted to know what was going on. I just laid my head in my hands and started to cry uncontrollably and as I was start to hyperventilate, I felt someone holding me close and with a angelic voice they told me it would be alright. I leaned into them and cried for a few minutes then I realized that it was the EMT or doctor comforting me. She had the most loving hold and touch on me that I really felt loved. She pushed back my hair from my face and kissed my forehead with the softest lips. I was starting to feel aroused and I sat up and looked at her sweet face. If I had not been in love with Ashley, Dr Lockhart would have my heart for sure.
