"Yes."
This time her head shot up. Her blue eyes stared at me and I knew she thought she had heard me wrong. A small smile made it’s way onto my face. She let out a huge wail of relief and collapsed to the floor, crying uncontrollably once again.
I walked over and lifted her up to her feet. I wiped her tears with my thumbs. Being able to touch her and hold her again drowned out any other thought or feeling that I had at that time. I dipped my head to whisper to her.
"Come on, let’s go back home."
I checked out and we walked to the parking lot, hands linked. We paused halfway through the lot and she pulled me into a fierce hug.
"I love you Ashley, always."
"I love you too Spencer, you’ve always been it for me."
We shared a quick kiss before heading off to our separate cars. I wasn’t sure what the future held for us but knowing that she would be waiting for me when I got home was all the reassurance I needed right then.
　
　
Okay guys there you have it. I had never intended for this story to have an over the top happy go lucky ending (must be the eternal pessimist in me lol). As you all know it started as just a one shot and I never thought it’d get this long. Well long for me anyway, I know a lot of you wanted longer chaps but it got harder as I went on and I said back in the beginning I didn’t want to be grasping at ideas. Anyway I’ve tried to make it all about the emotions that the characters were feeling, especially Ash as it mostly centers on her. I do hope I’ve done well in that aspect. It was never about anything material or things like that, just emotion. So I do hope you’ve all enjoyed reading it. And I thank everyone who has ever read it. Especially those of you who deemed it worthy enough to comment, and of course I have some I’d like to thank personally (I’m a dork, get over it!)
River_R- what can I say to the one who helped me get comfortable with the idea of posting something? I love you girl, thank you for all of your support

I totally forgot that I wanted to mention my inspiration for the original one shot start to this- driving around listening to Hinder’s Lips of an Angel. and boom the first chap popped into my head! anyway just wanted to share lol
I’m so sad it’s over but I have to say it was really great and not over the top at all, very realistic and the emotions were perfectly displayed. I really hope you keep writing cause you’re great at it!
Okay sorry it took me a few days to read this but I haven’t been around a computer. Thank you so much for the shoutout! And the ending was amazing (even though I don’t think this story should ever end). There were some very powerful emotions and you write them out so beautifully. It’s pretty crazy that this started out as a one-shot but honestly, there’s no way you could have gotten away with just that. I don’t think this story could have ended any other way but with a happy ending. But I vote you start writing another story. And soon.

Hi! Sorry I’m late to comment but I just got back, well an hour ago and 2 little people demanded my attention first, I think you can forgive me! Shhhh, don’t tell anyone but I read this first…considering what was posted over the weekend that’s kudos indeed :0) I just had no idea where you were going to take it and I WAS surprised we had a happy Spashley ending. I was pleased as I’m a sucker for a happy ending but either would have worked and been totally validated by the emotions running through the story. 17 chapters of story, from the previous comments I can see that I’m not the only one who is glad you did decide to expand, there was so much I was dying to find out after you posted the inital chapter and now I know! Thanks for the shout out but I call talent where I see it and you’ve got it by the bucket load. I’m gonna be in touch tonight but for now, good job!
