Beautiful Disaster – (Chapter: Chapter Nine: 14th)
Beautiful Disaster
Chapter Eight: 14
What happened to the ‘I love you’s’, the hugs and kisses and the rendez vous, you said you’d never change
-Mandy Moore, "Broken Promises"
"Mommy?! Mommy look!" Destiny shouted at the top of her tiny, five year old lungs. I watched her from the window of our kitchen as she ran around outside, steering clear of the pool so she wouldn’t get in trouble. Our three little puppies chased her, yelping and playing as she clapped her hands together around bubbles. I smiled big, I smiled wide, I smiled like the mother that I was as she waved to me shouting mommy.
"Wow, Dee-Dee you’re getting good at that." My wife, my beautiful Bianca. Wait, that wasn’t Bianca’s voice. I put the plates down and walked to the porch door, the breeze from the ocean making me light-headed.
"Tanx, cap’in" She said in her tiny little voice. Captain? Hadn’t Spencer told me she would make her children call her captain? Where was Bianca?
I opened the screen door and stepped outside, there sitting in the swinging chair was Destiny, in the arms of my wife.
"Bianca?" I asked as I walked over. She came into focus…
"Babe, don’t be silly. It’s me…Spence."
My eyes shot open but I didn’t budge. My breathing was laboured, never before had someone else appeared in that dream. Never before had it been someone other than Bianca chasing my daughter, holding my daughter. I looked over beside me, laying there was Spencer, her shirt off but her bra still on, an arm loosely around my waist, all the covers on top of her; she was beautiful. Why wouldn’t she give in to me? I needed to feel her, I needed to hold her, that dream really freaked me out.
"Babe?" I asked softly, I was shaking slightly my heart still beat rapidly.
"Love you," she whispered as she rolled onto her back, I nestled safely into her arms and listened to her heartbeat. She was so warm, she was so soft. I fit so perfectly there in her arms. I didn’t understand her sometimes, I knew she loved me, I knew we fit, but why weren’t we together yet? What could be more important that being with the one you love? Oh yah, being normal.
