Behind closed doors – (Chapter: Misconception)

The sound of the Cablecar’s bell woke Ashley up, as it traveled up the street past her apartment and down toward the pier. Her eyes peered open, seeing the innocence that was captured within the sleepy face lying next to her. She could barely recall what happened last night, being of no concern, because it ultimately ended with the two of them holding each other in their arms. That she was sure of, glancing down at Spencers slim waist a tiny portion of her stomach showing, peeking out from beneath her cotton tank. A devious smile crept across the brunette’s face at the thought of just the two of them lying there, their worlds united by a single layer of fabric. The two bodies separated by such a thin barrier. Her bliss began to falter as Ashley realized they were from two different places, her with her fast paced urban lifestyle and Spencer used to the slow paced tame atmosphere of her suburban like neighborhood.

"Could Spencer handle the wild ride that I’ve gotten so used to navigating?" Ashley thought as she turned away from the girl, an inkling of doubt unsettling her mind. She carefully, unfolded her arms that were so compatibly interlocked with Spencer’s body releasing her grasp of the honey haired beauty, who stirred slightly as if sensing the security she felt in her lover’s arms slipping away.

"Maybe I was the one who made the first move, and she just followed out of pressure.." Ashley considered as she turned to face toward the television, her back turned on a now awake Spencer.

The cerulean eyed girl also had no recollection of the liberation of emotions that had taken place the night before. Her eyes were fixated on the contours and curvatures of Ashley’s back, a peculiar absence of heat felt stripped off her body. The slightly hunched position of the brunette indicated to Spencer she was either cold or troubled in some way. Scooting her body across the tiny gap that Ashley had created between the two of them, she placed one arm around Ashley’s neck, pressing her body up against her, resisting the lure of planting a peck on the brunette’s neck, trying to transfer some heat to a remotely shivering Ashley.

The kind gesture was comforting in both senses but came across as an action executed by a caring friend not a potential lover. Disappointed, Ashley pretended to be asleep for a few minutes, before lifting herself up, Spencer’s arm being brushed off as it fell delicately back onto the sleeping bag.

“Are you hungry? We should get going soon,” Ashley spoke as she stood up, her body towering above Spencer.

Her love feeling cast off, Spencer feebly responded, “Nah, I’m okay.”

The brunette made her way toward her closet, distracting herself with thoughts of assessing her wardrobe for the day. She stared at the numerous array of clothing that hung before her. While a bewildered girl crawling across the sleeping bag who sat up,  for some odd reason felt rejected yet couldn’t indicate why.

“Something must’ve happened last night..” a thought both girls couldn’t seem to evade. Their thoughts in tune, both girls concluded to just carry on the way they had before last night.
