Best For Me – (Chapter: Not the way I planned it.)
Deep inside Spencer knew that she shouldn’t be pursuing this. Over and over she told herself that it was for Elly. She was just checking out this art class for her daughter and that was it. It was a lie, but it was a lie that she chose to believe in. Otherwise, what the hell was she here for? To stare doe eyed at some musician who, if she was even single, probably didn’t even notice shy, not very special Spencer.
Pushing open the doors to the community centre she was lost, a corridor in front of her flooded with children and adults swimming everywhere. She glanced at the flier in her hand trying to make sense of the directions. Looking up at the mass of people seemingly intent on their own path she sighed, she had never been good at this stuff.
“You look lost” the familiar voice sent a familiar sensation coursing up Spencer’s spine. She turned to find the musician, guitar case in hand, grinning at her from the doorway. “What are you looking for?”
“The art class you recommended” Spencer admitted, thankful of the presence of someone she knew. “It sounded like a good idea.”
“It’s a great class” Ashley enthused, “Did you bring Elly?”
“No, just me. I thought I’d better check it out first.” The reply was an understanding nod. She continued. “If I could figure out where it was though, that would help.”
Ashley chuckled, and then pushed off from the door frame. “Cmon, I’ll show you, it’s right next door to me. My class serenades them while they work.” The curly haired girl negotiated a deft path through the swelling crowd and Spencer stuck close behind, afraid of losing her.
Half way up the corridor Ashley pushed open a door and ushered Spencer into a large airy room filled with the paraphernalia of any good art class. Easels stood around in no particular order. One wall was thick with potting wheels and clay, another with collages and paper. It took a split second for Spencer to come to the conclusion that Elly was going to be in seventh heaven here. Ashley, grinning at the look on Spencer’s face, tugged her on the elbow and took her over to meet the short black haired woman at the front of the classroom. As they approached the woman looked up and a genuine warm smile lit her face at the sight of Ashley. Spencer felt her insides kick.

I want to give Elly and Spence the fattest hugs, EVER.
I am going to say point blank that I prefer this fic much more than 28 Days, and if you choose to continue, I will find the scientist and his mountain goat cyborg, and concoct a diabolical scheme to ride the entire world of brownies, leaving you wanting, needing, yet unable to satisfy. Do you hear me???? LOL, I really love this fic, and I adore your descriptions of Elly. This is original and well paced, as all your fics are, and I find myself skimming down the new posts for Best for Me everytime I log on. These Spence and Ash characters are very intriguing and different. In the words of Fleetwood Mac, “Don’t Stop.”
It was a mountain goat CYBORG?!?! Hot damn! 8( Watch out Clomle! My uncle’s on his way!
This story is great! It’s different path for our favorite couple and I’m really loving reading it. And Elly…(from how you describe her) is just the CUTEST little girl EVER. I’ll help Gray Jump! Stupid son of a- *mutters* Need more! And is there any way you could have Ashley like, beat the living daylights out of Gray? That would just bring a smile to my face! ;-) Keep Going! And if I hvae to start bribing you with THIS story too I will!
I love this story. I cant decide if this one or 28 days is better…and its making my head hurt so I’m just going to stop and say they’re both equally AMAZING! I hope your journey to find the mad scientist goes well. I don’t know what will happen to the world if we don’t get that force field.
I love this story. You write it so well. Gray is an ass.
You’re doing a great job of explaining how things got to this point between Spencer and Gary. It’s believable and I truly feel sympathy for Elly and Spence. Great job, great job.

I really love this story. You write stories that dont follow the Spencer meets Ashley, Spencer and Ashley have problems. Spencer and Ashley work it out. Even if they go that direction you manage to create this whole other world that is incredible. Are you sure you cant write for the show because if the first one is any indication its not looking promising. its looking….. predictable. Thanks for distracting me. My schedule is unreal and you stories provide some relief. Please PMS on this one.

HEY! I love this story. If people prefer 28 Days, it’s probably because it’s more the Spashley we’re used from the show AND because you’ve been writing it longer. Oh and sucks about the brownies, yo. I have an uncle who is an ex-buddhist monk from Nepal who spent the first 15 years of his life as a yak herder on Mount Everest. And you think I’m joking. Nope! This is a true story. He’s my Uncle Gyalzin, who is now working as a house painter in Charleston, SC. I’ll send him out to help you out, if you need him. Just let me know.

I haven’t read many fics here but I just registered to leave you some feedback. I absolutely love this fic! I think Spencer with a kid is so cute. And I’m very, very glad you didn’t make Elly overly cutesy. I love your Ashley. for me I think Ashley could go two ways. She’s either a messed up rockstar (who would eventually clean up) or she’s a pretty calm, quiet adult (of course with her own angst. Gray just pisses me off, he’s such an ass. Yes, your daughter is deaf, it doesn’t mean she’s this weird alien baby. She’s your regular 4 year old who just can’t hear. Well, I can’t wait to see more interactions between Ashley, Elly, and Spencer. Now, I’m going to get started on your ’28 Days’ fic.
