    Cerulean

Being blindly reckless had never been part of my makeup until I met him. It’s strange to think that in such a short period of time someone’s life can get turned inside out—-I would never have imagined that at this very moment I could be losing my friend and the thought of it is unbearable.
I try to break free of my sister’s strong grasp to get to him; we both stare in horror as the flames grow relentlessly high. Great trees tumble and thunder horribly to the forest floor. Nia’s iron grasp won’t relinquish; no matter how many times I kick and struggle to escape, she has tried to pull us away from danger.
    "Let's go!"
My sister’s urgent cry makes my heart skipping a terrible beat. Somehow she gathers enough strength to pull me completely and I find myself running with her far away from the creek where the dangers are so close. Just as he is. I want to go back so badly. But I know he would never forgive me if I turn back now. Taking a deep breath I giving my sister an encouraging squeeze and ran as fast my skinny legs can carry me.
I am not sure if this is divine work or not but we are at the clearing that leads out of the woods, hope envelopes us both as we realize where we were. Our hands still so tightly clasp together we run across the clearing. A chillingly familiar laugh rings throughout the clearing that makes my blood run cold, Nia’s body stiffens next to mine as we both look into the dark maroon eyes of death.
