“what’s this?” she asked

“just read like the first few lines…” I told her then she opened them and read one, then put it down, and another then another

“Ashley…these are all acceptance letters” she said looking up at me

“I know…I have a future!” I exclaimed trying to make her laugh, but no avail. “what’s wrong?” I asked her “I thought you’d be happy”

“I am…I’m so happy and so proud of you…but uh, ones from UCSB…” she said

“oh you can trash that one…it’s NYU or Boston U…” I told her

“well I guess that’s close…” she said

“hey…” I said putting my hand on her knee “…you knew this was coming…like college for me and everything…”

“yeah I know, but it was usually one day at a time…now it’s like ‘hey future…slap me in the face again…’” she said

“it still can be one day at a time…ok? Spencer I love you and NYU or Boston U can never change that…” I told her then she looked up at me

“you promise?” she asked

“I promise…” I said kissing her

“I love you…” she said resting her forehead against mine

“I love you too…” I told her making her smile

“hey!” I said getting Spencer’s attention down the hallway

“hey…” she said smiling then I gave her a quick kiss

“we going to that party tonight?”

“uh…yeah…” she said “…did you hear about Nicole?”

“no…” I said leaning against the lockers as she was going through hers

“she told everyone about her and Michelle Stefanic and how they’re dating…like legit in a committed relationship…” she told me

“how did you hear this?”

“I saw it…it was in the courtyard this morning…”

“Aiden didn’t tell me anything…” I told her

“I dunno then…” she said

“wow…I still can’t believe she’s gay…like I’ve known her since birth…”

“she’s only a year younger than you…”

“I know, but still…it’s weird…” I told her

“I guess…” she replied getting her books out of her locker then we started walking and I went to turn down the other hallway “…hey we have chemistry…” she said laughing at me

“yeah I know, but I have to meet with my college counselor…set up my classes for first semester…” I told her

“oh…” she said simply

“I’ll see you free period though” I said smiling at her then she walked into the chem. Room and I walked into the counselors office
