    Hi, my name is Spencer Carlin, and my dog is gay.

    Tuesday was my next appointment with Aiden. I had convinced one of the other secretaries to call, claiming I was too embarrassed. She obviously had taken it as I had a huge crush on him; I guess that was better than the office knowing the truth. Nevertheless, when Tuesday rolled around, I was pretty nervous considering the fact that I’d walked out on him Saturday night. My office door was open when he came by, and he rapped on the door a little, to notify me of his arrival.

    “Hello,” I greeted him. “Close the door behind you?” He did as I asked and took a seat in the same place he’d sat before. I put down the pen I’d just been writing with and adjusted myself in my seat. “Look, Aiden. Before we start, I just want to, um… apologize for Saturday. It wasn’t right to walk out like that.”

    “No, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have just brought up the past, you know? You had every right to be angry,” he conceded.

    “I think we should just keep things at a professional level. It’ll be a lot easier on both of us,” I told him. He looked at me for a moment, as though he was contemplating something, but he nodded, a small smile playing out on his face.

    The rest of the appointment went by smoothly and professionally; by the end, I had almost forgotten about what happened that night. We made plans to review his agency’s conditions for an out-of-court settlement on Friday and I spent the rest of that day going over paperwork and helping Farber on another case he was working on. All in all, it was a pretty typical day.

     

    I got home at 6, relatively early for my standards, and immediately picked up Benny’s leash for a trip to the park nearby. There was still a good, solid hour of daylight left, and I knew he’d enjoy the excursion. As we walked, I remembered the first time I’d taken him to a dog park, back when I was still in law school. Oddly enough, I was terrified. Long hours of studying could make a person really grumpy, and since the dog park was about 100 feet from my apartment, I was constantly fighting off the sound of barking and yelling from the park. I’d even gone out there one time, when I had pretty bad PMS and a huge test the next day, and chided the owners for being so discourteous. They seemed taken back, but did lower the noise level that night. So needless to say, I was pretty worried they were going to say something to me about that night the first time I showed up with Benny. And they were definitely a little wary of me at first, but Benny won them over and made a name for himself, and for me, in that park.

    5. First of all Kozmic, virtual high-5 for soldiering out the guinea pig dinner. Memo to Clarity: avoid Peru. Well, when in “Rome,” I guess…but I’ve got to say, I’m okay with chicken tasting like chicken. Then again I have an affinity for McDonald’s McGriddles a.k.a toxic waste…with a spectacular taste (note – if anyone from my martial arts class is reading this, I meant to say my best friend likes McGriddles, yeah, that’s it). Okay, regarding your spectacular chapter Kozmic, I’m definitely obsessed. I was in a meeting today and all I kept thinking was, “Wow! Spencer and Ashley must have had one hot mess of a break-up.” Should I brace myself for that chapter? Also, per Borat, it’s looking as though Spencer is going to implode if she doesn’t have “sexy time” and a “romantic explosion” soon. Please post soon, Kozmic.

Anyway, I hate fish, but i like tuna (I know that makes no sense, I hate all fish BAR tuna) and your fiction is far more addictive than tuna. Your fiction is so addictive it should be a schedule 8 drug. Whooeee. Cmon, she needs to call Ash, even for a 1800 fun time.

Two words: restraining order” I killed myself over that line. My flat mate seriously thinks i’m certifiable, and i cant always explain why i’m laughing to her, cause this site is my one and only dirty little secret. I loved the flow and movement of this piece. I love all things humor. especially when your also dealing with heavy heart matters. well written mate…Off i fly to the next one
