Ashley and Spencer stood at the door waving Aiden and Tina off, when the headlights were out of sight; Spencer closed the door and looked at Ashley questioningly. Ashley gulped down the huge lump that had formed in her throat and smiled at Spencer hoping she could avoid this argument that’s been lingering in the air. She reached out and cupped Spencer’s cheek, smiling she leaned in and planted a soft, gentle kiss on Spencer’s lips, she rested her forehead against Ashley’s and sighed.

“Ok, ok I cant and wont avoid this, so lets just get it out the way ok?” Ashley said breaking the contact and heading towards the kitchen to clean up, Spencer followed her and leaned against the cupboard watching her for a few minutes.

“Ash what’s going on?” Spencer asks carefully.

“Nothings going on. why?” Ashley replies just as careful, never once making eye contact with her wife.

“Ash come on, don’t do this… talk to me, please” Spencer pleaded, moving towards her lover and turning her round to look at her. Ashley sighed and put the cloth into the bowl and leaned against the cabinets, she looked at her feet and took a deep breath. Her mind was running ten to the dozen, does she lie? Does she tell the truth? Does she hurt Spencer now or hurt her later when she finds out she’s lied? She slowly looked up and sees Spencer’s worried eye’s looking at her quizzically. She reached out and pulled Spencer towards her and pulls her into a hug, after a few moments she sobbed out loudly and Spencer pulls her tighter.

“Baby tell me what’s wrong” Spencer whispered.

“I can’t” Ashley whispered back.

“Baby, whatever it is, we can fix it, I just need you to tell me” Spencer whispered kissing Ashley’s hair and not letting go of her.

“I don’t want to hurt you Spence” she sobbed.

“ok, band aid trick… take a deep breath, count to three and when you breath out just get it out there ok?” Spencer whispered closing her eyes tight, she had an impending sense of doom filling her lungs, she feet her wife’s head nod slowly then feet her take a deep breath.
