FEAR
"The most destructive element in the human mind is fear. Fear creates aggressiveness."
-Dorothy Thompson
I could feel him, I could feel it. I could feel his eyes staring intently at me. If looks could kill I would’ve been dead five minutes ago. The animalistic feeling that emanated from his being would cause even the toughest of men to cower like a little girl. I was no exception my obvious body language giving him more of an advantage and heightening my sense of being in the direct path of danger. I feebly attempted to learn the material I was being taught at the present time, but the rhythmic deep breathing I heard to my left shook me out of any concentration I had forced upon myself. By this point I had adverted away from any sudden movements, but my damn hair that kept falling in my face was growing increasingly annoying and so I took a chance and pushed the fallen strands behind my ear tucking them away securely so I didn’t have to repeat what I felt was a risky move. I regretted this simple movement at once. His rhythmic breathing instantly became haggard and uneven. His sudden change in breath pattern triggered my fight or flight response and I wanted nothing more than to run out of Biology and never return, but my legs would simply not obey what my brain screamed. I slowly shifted my eyes in the direction of him, curious at what he was doing or possibly thinking. As soon as my eyes locked in his direction his dark smoldering eyes met mine locking each other’s gazes in place. I inhaled sharply causing him to twitch towards me. I quickly snapped by head back to the front, my heart pounding threatening to jump out of my chest and onto the table. My curiosity overcoming me again gave me what little confidence I had left to turn and look at him again. His bronze hair stuck out in all directions giving him the bed head look, which I must admit intrigued me slightly, but then there was the case of his pale skin that looked like it was in desperate need of sunlight. His stone-like face showed no emotion except maybe one vaguely representing pain.
