As she was leaving her history class, to which she was four minutes late, someone came up and tapped Spencer on her arm.  She anxiously turned her head, but the brunette standing in front of her wasn’t the one she was hoping to see. 

    “Spencer, I was just going to tell you and Kevin that we’re throwing Aiden a surprise birthday party this weekend at the scary mansion.  It’s Saturday, and I’m sure he’d love it if you guys were there,” Kyla explained to Spencer. 

    “Oh, okay, sounds fun.  Wait, are you and Ashley actually planning this thing together?  I’m impressed.”

    Kyla chuckled and then sighed before explaining further, “Uh, are you kidding?  This is all Ashley.  I think the only reason she told me about it at all is so I can get him there without him knowing.”

    Spencer smiled knowingly, and as she turned to leave, she said, “Well, we’ll be there.  See you tomorrow.” 

    She hurried out the door because she knew Kevin would be waiting in the parking lot.  She went straight to his car when she spotted it, but there was no Kevin.  Kevin, come out, come out, wherever you are..He’s probably underneath fixing something that fell off..  She chuckled to herself as she bent down to check.  No Kevin.

    “Laughing at yourself again.  We are definitely going to have to get you some help for this little problem of yours.”  Ashley.. 
“So, is he under the car?” Ashley asked teasingly.

    “You made me late to my History class,” Spencer responded.  She was trying with everything she had to not smile, but her eyes gave her away.

    Ashley laughed softly and spoke even softer.  “Sorry about that.”

    “Oh, hey, baby.  Sorry.  I was talking to Aiden about this weekend,” Kevin said as he walked up to the girls.  Spencer jumped out of her trance, and Ashley’s head jerked around.

    “Wait.  What about this weekend?”  Ashley sounded angry as she asked it.

    “Uh, well.  I was invited to a party this weekend.  Some friends of mine at Jefferson are throwing it, and I thought we could all go.  Sound fun?” Kevin answered Ashley, but directed his response at Spencer.  Uh oh…  Ashley’s stressful expression wasn’t lost on Spencer.
