“but you cant start over when you still have a wife Ashley…” Spencer explained

“do you know what it feels like? To reach that level of betrayal?”

“yes…like you did with me?” Spencer said trying to win the fight

“no! not like you and me…I promised my life to her…my whole life…I don’t remember making any type of promise like that to you…” Ashley said getting angry

“I’m…” Spencer started until she was interrupted

“you should come in…it’s cold out here…” Ashley said letting Spencer in then they went to sit on the couch in Ashley’s living room of her apartment “…I came home, it was a Monday night…I was out of town, but got home a few hours early…and right when I walked through my front door…I knew something was different…not right. I knew I was going to see something I didn’t want to see or believe…but then I walked down the hall and stepped on a jacket that hadn’t belonged to me…but the worst thing was…it was a jacket I had seen before…so now I knew I was about to walk into my bedroom, not only to find my wife cheating on me…but cheating on me with my best friend…” Ashley explained to Spencer

“then you met me…” Spencer said

“and then I met you…” Ashley said looking at the girl next to her

“so what was I to you? Some girl you screwed to get over being screwed?” Spencer asked standing up

“you…you were the one person I felt that I could confide in at that moment…I came out here running from my life that had fallen apart…four years of marriage…just were nothing then…so I realized on my flight out here that love was nothing…love was an overrated bliss…” Ashley said

“that’s not true…”

“what isn’t?” Ashley asked

“love being overrated…it’s not…it’s real and you know it. You felt love for Megan, that’s why you’re hurting…she cheated on you and you couldn’t come to terms with it…”

“but no less Spencer…a guy…my best friend who was a guy…I mean I can’t compete with that…”

“obviously…but there’s so many other girls that want what you can give them, so many girls who want to be in a caring relationship with you…and it may not be megan…but there’s betters out there…” Spencer said getting up and walking towards Ashley’s apartment door and Ashley had said nothing…then before shutting the door behind her, Spencer turned around “like me…” then she shut the door and Ashley smiled to herself
